The Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG V12 BiTurbo has been a rockstar of a roadster since its debut in 2004. In its natural state, the car has few equals, which is why it has been such an attractive platform for tuners to celebrate. German tuning haus INDEN Design has decided to take another pass at making this Merc even better, this time going with their 'black sapphire' look.
Joachim Inden adds a new front apron with ventilation holes, a revised hood, flared fender arches, side skirts as well as a new rear spoiler and apron with integrated rear diffuser. With the fatter inner wheeler arches in place, the company shoehorns in a set of 3-piece INDEN Champion wheels measuring 20x11 in front and 20 x 13 in rear wrapped with rubber rated at 265/30R20 and 325/25R20 respectively. The Inden-Design SL 65 AMG features an electronic control module that can drop the ride up to 45mm.

Performance tuning efforts manage to coax 671 hp out of the 6.0L V12 engine and the removal of the speed limiter allows this Merc to fully stretch its legs. This is an impressive jump from the 604 hp rating in stock form. All we know is that Black Sapphire exhaust

WHO DANCES WITH WOLVES...
AMG has been producing a small series of one of the most powerful roadsters, the SL 65 AMG V12 BiTurbo, since 2004. This roadster was built on the basis of the Mercedes-Benz R230 and has the 6-liter engine (used also in Maybach) soothing 612 hp (450 kW). The "natural" torque (in the truest sense of the word) of this engine is 1200 Nm, but it is limited by the engine control to 1000 Nm.
The noble tuner INDEN Design from Flammersbach near the Hessian Haiger has gladly taken and presented this not quite easy task to upgrade this SL again – as a matter of course, with Joachim Inden – a deep black roadster, which has to be in black sapphire as a result of the conversion.
Let us begin with a front apron, which has huge holes for ventilation. The hood had to go through corrections as well. The front wings were widened, that required to change the inner wheel arches. Linking of this set of side skirts and front and rear wheel arches could hardly be made more individual. The rear wheel arches have considerably more volume now. At the rear, subtle spoiler and modified apron with rear diffuser are conspicuous.
Direct contact between the vehicle and asphalt is achieved by a perfectly adequate wheel / tire combination of three-part INDEN Champion 11x20 or 13x20-inch rims with 265/30 and 325/25R20 tires.
Electronic control module provides additional lowering by about 45 mm. The performance of the aforementioned engine was – not surprisingly – increased to 680 hp, and the Vmax-lock was removed. For the desired sonorous engine sound Black Sapphire exhaust pipes were installed. The interior of the INDEN’s SL 65 AMG V12 features a Black Series SteeringWheel
in Alcantara.
By the way, one can take a look more closely at this vehicle at the Tuning World Bodensee in Friedrichshafen from 05 to 11 May 2011. And he who dances with wolves must expect to get one or two scratches...
