Derek Jeter came ready to play on Saturday, smacking a double in the first inning for his 2,999th hit. The positive tension mounted thereafter, and in the third-inning, Jeter sealed the deal and officially became the 28th member of the exclusive 3,000-hit club when he launched a home-run over the left-field wall off of pitcher Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price. The only other player to make a home-run his 3,000th hit was former Yankee Wade Boggs, who, coincidentally, played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays during his moment.
