Three alleged looters nabbed after stealing flood-damaged safe in Coney Island

Keeman Browne, 29, Thomas Stokes, 35, and Izi Divyn, 37, were arrested after fleeing from the Sea Gate gated community with a locked Sentry safe, according to police. The safe contained a loaded Armi Fabri 9 mm pistol along with jewelry, collectible coins and mud-covered papers.

Coney Island Looting -- level one mobilization was called in the confines of 60 /61 pct in regards to looting. Several arrests were made.

Police have made several arrests for looting in Coney Island since superstorm Sandy struck the region.

A trio of post-Sandy looters in Coney Island unwittingly stole a loaded pistol when they hauled away a flood-damaged safe — and now they face prison time under the state's strict gun laws.
Keeman Browne, 29, Thomas Stokes, 35, and Izi Divyn, 37, fled from the Sea Gate gated community with a locked Sentry safe they did not have a combination for after apparently tearing it out of a spot where it had been secured by nails, cops said.

When the sticky-fingered crew was busted Tuesday about 1 p.m. at Mermaid Ave. and W. 37th St. in Brooklyn, according to police, the safe contained a loaded Armi Fabri 9 mm pistol along with jewelry, collectible coins and mud — and sludge-covered papers with illegible text.
The accused looters were awaiting their arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court Thursday and were expected to be hit with multiple charges, including weapons possession, burglary and possession of stolen property. On the top count alone, they could face a mandatory prison sentence of 3-1/2 years behind bars if convicted.

It was not immediately clear who the safe belonged to and from where it was pilfered.
Divyn claimed the safe belonged to him and he was relocating it to another apartment, sources said. But cops believe the safe was stolen, in part because its exterior was scratched from a failed attempt to pry the door off.
