Car Porn : BMW 1M Coupe commercial

[VIDEO] BMW 1M Coupe commercial released

BMW has released a new commercial video where the 1M Coupe model is being promoted.
After the BMW 1M Coupe has hit quite a few international auto shows, being chosen on the way as the favorite car of some celebs in 2011, the powerful German model is now being promoted on TV too. BMW has recently revealed a new commercial video with the 1M Coupe model, and the ad is highlighting the perfect balance of the vehicle, also comparing it to older M-Power cars, like the popular 3-Series E30.
As a reminder, the BMW 1M Coupe is the high-performance version of the 1-Series coupe and it’s powered by the same N54 engine found in the 335is and the Z4sDrive35is. The unit is a 3.0 liter inline straight-six cylinder, twin turbo and direct injected, which is developing 335 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque (450 Nm). The 0 to 60 mph acceleration takes 4.7 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).
The engine is being mated to a six-speed manual transmission with an M gearshift knob and dry sump lubrication system, and besides that impressive unit, the body of the vehicle has also been modified, giving the car a wider track and bigger body, as well as a body kit to make it different than the standard 1-Series Coupe.

Rides : Fifth Gear puts Audi RS3 vs. BMW 1M

Video: Fifth Gear puts Audi RS3 vs. BMW 1M

In the last episode of the Fifth Gear, (Season 20 Episode 2) Tiff Needell and the ex-British Rally Champion Mark Higgins have put the Audi RS3 and the new BMW 1M on the race track.
So let’s see who is better…
The Audi RS3 is powered by a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine producing 340 horsepower and 332 ft lbs of torque. Power is transferred to the ground by all four-wheels using Audi’s Quattro system and a 7-speed S-tronic direct-shift transmission.
There’s no programmed torque vectoring.
Compared with your garden-variety A3, the RS is lower and has a wider front track, and its front tires huddle under specially flared fenders fashioned from beautifully finished carbon fiber.
The RS3 requires 4.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) and is limited to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). It starts at £39,930 (OTR).
On the same time, the BMW 1M has a 3.0-litre straight-six engine that produces the exact amount of power like RS3 – 340hp. The difference ( one of many ) is that the 1M is a rear wheel drive car. At 335 horsepower, the twin-turbo six is way out of the M3’s 414-hp league, but makes up the difference with stacks of torque from 1,500 rpm to 4,500 rpm, peaking at 332 lb/ft — 37 lb/ft more than the M3.
The car is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) top speed. There is an M Drive button that activates a quicker throttle response program.
Anyway enough with the techy data … let’s what these cars are capable of …

Rides : BMW 1-Series M Coupe by Romeo Ferraris

BMW 1-Series M Coupe by Romeo Ferraris

One of the hottest cars of the moment, the BMW 1-Series M Coupe, just became even hotter, after the Milan-based tuner Romeo Ferraris gave it a “touch of exclusivity”, boosting its power from 340 to almost 400 HP.
The new BMW 1-Series M Coupe can be compared to the original E30 M, with every major tuner wanting a piece of the action and battling amongst themselves to offer new performance kits that take the small sports car to a whole new level.
The latest project made by the Italian tuner Romeo Ferraris gives the 1-Series M Coupe 52 horsepower more, boosting its six-cylinder, twin-turbo,, three-liter engine to 392 horsepower at 5.900 rpm and a peak torque of 530 Nm, available between 1.500 and 4.500 rpm, 80 Nm more than the standard 450.
The Milan-based tuner also fitted the BMW with an 85 mm high-performance exhaust system and the ECU has been remapped.
Romeo Ferraris didn’t offer a price for its performance upgrade of the BMW 1-Series M Coupe, but the kit might be one of the cheapest available on the market yet.

Rides : BMW 1M Series Coupe by AC Schnitzer

BMW 1M Series Coupe by AC Schnitzer

The German aftermarket developer AC Schnitzer has decided to give a small touch of exclusivity to one of the newest and hottest cars out there, the 1M Series Coupe, bringing in some new design elements and boosting the car’s power.

AC Schnitzer says that the new 1M Series Coupe’s six-cylinder engine is now delivering 400 horsepower instead of the “classic” 340 and it’s torque figures also went up from 500 to 560 Nm. But what is a power boost without a new racing exhaust system to improve the acoustics.

Extra power means extra time to stop the car so the German tuner also fitted the 1M Series Coupe with new brakes, six-piston calipers for the front and four-piston for the rear. For better handling and improved aesthetics AC Schnitzer’s new adjustable suspension has also been fitted.

According to the German aftermarket specialist, the improved 1M Series Coupe can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, compared to the “old” 4.9 seconds, stopping at its 300 km/h top speed.
The German tuner has also played with the car’s exterior design, upgrading it with new carbon fiber elements. AC Schnitzer didn’t release a price for the new kit but one thing it’s for sure, it will have some serious competition.

Rides : BMW 1M Series by RevoZport

BMW 1M Series by RevoZport

The Asian tuning company RevoZport has just unveiled their version of BMW 1M Series, with a new aerodynamic design and more power to the wheels.
The powerful 1M was is now fitted with a carbon fiber body kit which includes new grille, ventilated hood, front splitter, side skirts, lightweight trunk, trunk-mounted spoiler, roof-mounted spoiler, rear wing, lightweight roof, mirror casings and rear diffuser.
According to the BMW tuner, the car weighs 60 kg less than the stock version achieved through “the extensive use of carbon composite fiber products” and “the 1M Raze is the ultimate combination of performance, style and handling”, as it is written on the tuner’s official site.
The new 1M now has an improved power-to-weight ratio and aerodynamic efficiency and the Asian tuner also “played” with the car’s performance by installing an intercooler, a blow-off valve, high-flow air filter, a new titanium exhaust system and the ECU was revised.
Even though the tuner didn’t announce anything official about the 1M’s power, the P450 name could suggest that the car is now developing 450 horsepower.

Rides : BMW Connected hitting 1 Series cars first, lets you tweet your disregard for speed limits

BMW Connected hitting 1 Series cars first, will let you Tweet your disregard for speed limits
The BMW Connected app has been available for a few months now, following in the footsteps of Mini Connected as it sits there, and taunting you from the App Store. We knew cars supporting the feature would be coming in March, and now we know which ones will be first: BMW's svelte little 1 Series. To enable the streaming radio and even streaming video (when the car is stationary) on the dash-mounted display you'll need to tick the box next to a €150 (about $205) option. In your suitably equipped car you can then get your Facebook and Twitter feeds read to you and even provide automated responses using "vehicle information such as current speed, outside temperature or navigation destination." We're hoping the car can apply some flowery language to such hard data, like "bat out of hell" for those particularly warm days in which you're driving at a high rate of speed from an unpleasant point of origin.

BMW offers new interface for extended iPhone connectivity. The special option Apps.

23.02.2011Press Release
Munich. For the first time following the launch of MINI Connected, the BMW Group is now also offering select iPhone applications for integrated use in a BMW. This capability sees the already extensive range of BMW ConnectedDrive features enhanced by a function hitherto unmatched by the competition. With this offer, BMW is once again underlining its leadership role in the field of in-car integration technology. The new option is designed to improve the integration of the Apple iPhone in the car and will be available from spring 2011 to coincide with the launch of the new BMW 1 Series CoupĂ© and the new BMW 1 Series Convertible. The special option will cost €150.

BMW Connected app: listen to web radio, send and receive Facebook and Twitter posts.
With the BMW Connected app, functions such as web radio, Facebook and Twitter can be shown on the car's display and be operated by means of the iDrive Controller. In addition to the new special option Apps, the requirements for this function are Bluetooth connectivity and the Navigation system Professional (both special options), as well as an iPhone with the BMW Connected app, which can be downloaded free of charge in the Apple App Store. If the iPhone is connected to the car via the USB socket or snap-in adapter, the content of the BMW Connected app appears on the display, which is ideally positioned in the driver's line of vision. This means drivers can leave their iPhone in the holder and keep up with personal Facebook or Twitter posts in comfort and safety via the large vehicle display. Using preformulated text modules, which can be individually defined and stored in the iPhone app, the app can also be used to call up vehicle information such as current speed, outside temperature or navigation destination, enabling the driver to reply to new posts and messages from the car at any time.
As with Facebook and Twitter, the web radio feature can also be operated via the Navigation display using the iDrive Controller. It means that vehicle occupants have access to thousands of internet radio stations around the world, irrespective of the car's location. As with the iPhone, music station searches can be carried out via a wide range of search parameters such as genre, country or local stations. Stored favourite stations can also be called up.
Whereas Facebook and Twitter can only be accessed inside the vehicle, the web radio feature of the BMW Connected App is also available on the iPhone beyond the confines of the car.
In addition to allowing the use of the BMW Connected app, this interface also opens up the possibility of using future applications in the vehicle which have been adapted in collaboration with BMW. As such the Apps interface only marks the beginning of extended iPhone integration through BMW ConnectedDrive. Further functions and apps will follow at regular intervals and will be available for download from the App Store to customers who have opted for the special option Apps and the related interface.

PlugIn: simple operation of the iPhone's iPod function in the car.
As well as permitting the integration of apps, the new interface offers a further in-car entertainment function known as PlugIn. This allows the operation of functions via the familiar Apple iPod user interface that appears in the car's display. Since the PlugIn feature gives the car direct access to the iPod functions of the iPhone, BMW owners can also avail themselves of all the extended options in the car. These include, for example, Genius playlists that allow the driver to automatically generate mixes of similar tracks from the music catalogue. All stored playlists are shown with their original album cover art – just as they would be on an iPhone or iPod. Here, once again, BMW is affirming its leadership role in the field of infotainment.
As the software for the various BMW ConnectedDrive options is in the user's iPhone, regular updates can extend and adapt these functions, thereby guaranteeing the long-term use of current and future iPhone functions. It marks a new era in the integration of consumer electronics in the car. The requirement for this comprehensive integration is a snap-in adapter.

Video playback: vodcasts in the car as well.
Last but not least, the new Apps interface also allows video podcasts from the iPhone's iPod function to be played and watched on the in-car display – when the vehicle is stationary.

Rides - 2012 BMW 1-Series M Coupe won’t offer moonroof option

2012 BMW 1-Series M Coupe

When the 2012 BMW 1-Series M Coupe hits dealerships next year, it will have a bunch of options including Comfort Access Keyless Entry, Navigation, heated seats, an upgraded Harman Kardon surround sound system, BMW Assist with Bluetooth, iPod and USB adapter, Park Distance Control (rear only) and much more.

However, what the 2012 BMW 1-Series M Coupe won’t have that the base 1-Series models have is a moonroof. That’s right – no moonroof for the BMW 1-Series M Coupe because engineers say that deleting the option not only saves 35 pounds when compared with a regular 1-Series, but it also lowers the car’s center of gravity.

The 1-Series M Coupe also has air curtains places around the wheel wells to reduce drag as it cuts through the wind. They are the first air curtains on a BMW.

The 1-Series M Coupe is turning out to be a very special vehicle.

Refresher: The 2012 BMW 1-Series M Coupe is powered by a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine making 335-hp and a maximum torque of 332 lb-ft. Mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, the 2012 BMW 1-Series M Coupe goes from 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds (0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds) with a top speed of 155 mph.

Rides : 1 Series M Coupe VS Audi RS3

While we're all still drooling over the unveiling of the 1-Series M Coupe, some might wonder how it will fare against what will possibly be its biggest rival - the Audi RS3. We can already hear some moaning 'coupe vs hatchback, RWD vs AWD and manual vs double clutch' to stress both cars aren't even rivals, but look at the specs to see that both are pretty close in power, size and price. Enough said, here it is, all pictures and information you need to make up your mind about this 'fight':
