Rides : New BMW 6-Series gets 640d xDrive version

The German based automaker BMW has recently announced that the new 6-Series will get a 640d Diesel xDrive version.
The new BMW 6-Series Coupe with its 640d xDrive version will be powered by a 3.0 liter straight-six TwinPower engine, which will be developing a total output of 313 horsepower and it will have an impressive peak torque of 630 Nm, available at low rpms, between 1.500 and 2.500. BMW says that the 6-Series Coupe with the 640d xDrive will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds, before hitting its 250 km/h limited top speed (155 mph). If you think that this isn’t that impressive, we’ll tell you that all that power is available with an average fuel consumption of just 5.7 liters every 100 km, while the CO2 emissions stop at 149 g/km.

Rides : BMW 6-Series Coupe M-Sport (640d / 640i / 650i xDrive) available this fall

The
new BMW 6-Series Coupe is getting ready to hit the dealerships later
this fall and the German based automaker has taken the wraps off the
engine range of the sports car, including the 640d, 640i and 650i.
The BMW 6-Series Coupe 640d takes its power from the six-cylinder
in-line TwinPower multi-stage turbocharged and Common Rail direct
injection diesel engine (2.993 cc) which is delivering a total output of
313 horsepower at 4.400 rpm and a maximum torque of 630 Nm available
between 1.500 to 2.500 rpm. BMW says that the 640d can accelerate from 0
to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h, all of this
with an average fuel consumption of 5.5 liters ever 100 kilometers,
emitting just 145 g/km of CO2 (Euro 5).Moving up a bit and we can find the 640i Coupe, which is powered by the six-cylinder in-line TwinPower Turbo technology with twin-scroll turbochargers high-precision direct injection VALVETRONIC petrol engine (2.979 cc) which is delivering 320 horsepower at 5.800 to 6.000 rpm and 450 Nm of maximum torque available between 1.300 and 4.500 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time and top speed are exactly the same as the 640d, while the fuel consumption has gone up to 7.6 liters every 100 km and 180 g/km CO2 emissions (Euro 5).
The most expected 650i xDrive Coupe is here too and it’s powered by the larger V8 with two turbochargers and high-precision direct injection engine (4.395 cc) which is delivering 407 horsepower at 5.500 – 6.400 rpm with a maximum torque of 600 Nm available at 1.750 – 4.500 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes 4.9 seconds and the top speed has been again electronically limited to 250 km/h. The 650i xDrive is burning an average of 10.5 – 10.6 liters every 100 kilometers and it’s emitting 245 g of CO2 every kilometer (Euro 5).

BMW has powered up the online configurator for the 2012 BMW 650i Coupe. Interesting is that the automaker hasn’t released any press release or any information’s about this new configurator.
Anyway, the 2012 BMW 650i Coupe start at $83,000 and comes with the new 4.4 liter V8 engine that produces 400bhp. Once you add in packages like the M Sport, Cold Weather, Driver Assistance packages the price gets pretty close to $100k.
The twin-turbo V8 engine and eight-speed transmission accelerate the 650i vigorously, hitting 60 m.p.h. in 4.9 seconds. Adjustable settings for suspension, steering and powertrain allow you to emphasize comfort or performance. This transmission can be controlled manually via a pair of paddle-shifter or, if you prefer to row your own gears in the more traditional manner, a six-speed manual gearbox will also be offered.

Rides : It's ALL About The Little Details With The 2012 BMW 650i CoupeIf there has been one weakpoint of BMW vehicles, it has always been their interiors.
That's because it appears that BMW is ushering in a new era of interior design. Sure, the overall layout remains largely the same but take a look at the attention to detail and materials.
This is a huge improvement from the last-generation 6-Series and for BMW products as a whole.
It doesn't look like you'll have to order a BMW Individual product to get a nice interior anymore. Three cheers for the engineers!

Rides : 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe Packs More Thrust, Less Thirst

BMW has had a rather star-crossed history in the premium coupe segment. The E9-body 3.0CS and the original E24 6 Series were taut, relatively light GTs with serious racing pedigree, but the E31 8 Series went down the high-tech, high-dollar and, regrettably, high-fat road. But when the time came to replace the 8er, BMW made the decision to revive the 6 Series moniker for the E63 chassis (Convertibles were designated E64).
Now the third generation 6 Series (codenamed F12 for coupes, F13 for ragtops) has arrived, wearing more subdued sheetmetal that eschews its predecessor’s Bangle Butt (or, more accurately, van Hooydonk Badonk-a-donk). But the new 6er coupe’s beauty is far more than skin deep.

The new coupe will initially be available with one of two engines: The 640i with a 3.0L turbocharged straight-six producing 320hp, and the 650i with a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 rated at 400hp. However, only the V8 will be offered in the U.S. for now. (What? Americans buying large luxury coupes aren’t allowed to pinch pennies on fuel?) The only transmission that will be offered at launch is an 8-speed automatic, plus a start-stop function that automatically switches the engine off when the vehicle is stationary. The result is estimated combined gas mileage in the mid-20s for the V8, and mid- to high-30s for the six.
But the tech toys aren’t just under the hood. Every 2012 6 Series comes with Dynamic Drive Control – which allows for the adjustment of multiple mechanical and electronic parameters – and other wizardry like electric power steering and Dynamic Damper Control are optional. In other words, you can give your 6er as many personalities as your little heart desires…if you’re, you know, into that kind of thing.

The Bavarians are being coy about pricing for the moment, but if its predecessor is any indication, it will be noticeably cheaper than its larger rival, the Mercedes-Benz CL-Class. Oh, and one more thing: Those of you waiting on the next M6 will have to wait at least another year or so, but with rumors swirling of a 550hp+ version of the 650i’s turbo V8 lurking under the hood, you can bet your patience will be rewarded. Now sit back and watch some vids of the normal 6 Series doing its thang and look at more pretty pictures.

Rides - The 2012 BMW 650i Convertible
Now that the 2011 Detroit Auto Show is over for the press, we can take a closer look at the cars that we're intrigued with.
After getting a look at the convertible, I am definitely looking forward to the coupe version.
One thing that's nice about the 2012 6-Series' top is that it doesn't appear clunky because it maintains the buttressed, soft-top design of the outgoing version. Thank god BMW didn't go for a folding metal roof with the 6!
Secondly, if all BMW interiors are given the same attention to detail, it seems that Audi may have some serious competition on its hands.
