Rides : 2012 Porsche 911 will have a 7-speed manual gearbox

2012 Porsche 911 will have a 7-speed manual gearbox
The seventh generation of the Porsche 911 is coming. Changes include new transmissions, longer wheelbase, launch control and and a more
Panameraesque interior. Oh, and an optional hybrid drivetrain.
Anyway, the next generation Porsche 911 will be the first car in the world to feature seven-speed manual transmission.

While the image is photoshopped, the German magazine Autobild says we can expect a fairly traditional layout with the seventh gear added on the top right.

The next-generation Porsche 911 will debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

Video: 2012 Nissan GT-R vs 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S

The battle of the Titans is back! Fifth Gear has compared the 2012 Nissan GT-R with the 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S. Tiff Needell and Jason Plato did three specific tests with the two sports cars.
It’s a battle between the 530 HP 2012 Nissan GT-R and the 530 HP 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S. With equal power outputs and similar 0-60 mph sprint times - 3.0 seconds and 3.3 seconds - the real winner will come down to handling, weight, and aerodynamics.
The Turbo S’s 530 hp are available between 6250 and 6750 rpm. The added power is achieved through different intake-valve timing and increased turbo boost pressure. Maximum torque is rated at 516 lb-ft, which happens between 2100 and 4250 rpm. The Turbo S torque figure can be matched by the regular Turbo, but only when that car is equipped with the Sport Chrono package.
On the same time, with incredible performance at a relatively low price, the 2011 Nissan GT-R is one of the most desirable vehicles for the driving enthusiast.
