We have bad news for those who wanted to buy a Mercedes-Benz and are located in the United States and China as the manufacturer announced that buyers from these countries will face delivery delays of up to three months due to the strong demand. These words came from Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Mercedes parent Daimler AG who also added that the it the worst cases the deliveries may take up to a quarter of a year. Apparently, the problem is that the manufacturer doesn’t receive the parts in time.
"We are facing a luxury problem: How do we get all the parts we need in time," said Zetsche. For those who don’t know, in October, Daimler raised its full-year operating profit outlook to above 7 billion euros ($9.3 billion). Apparently, this target will not be affected by the delays according to Zetsche.
"We have no doubt (about reaching that target). December went well, too. We are very satisfied," Zetsche said. Moreover, Zetsche says that the car industry is growing again and the numbers of cars around the world will double in the next 20 years. "The number of cars around the world will double within the next 20 years. The sector goes uphill fast, we're a growth industry again." said Dieter Zetsche.
