New 'awkwardhaha' Video Scam Hits Facebook

Fake Facebook Login
This latest Facebook scam shouldn't be too hard to spot for anyone even slightly versed in the world of Internet malfeasance. It all starts with a post on your wall by a friend that reads "Hey, [your name here]!! What the heck are you doing in this video! LOL" followed by a link to a Facebook app. It's basically the same template used by the "coooooL video" scam and its ilk, except your name is inserted into it. The crooks do have one interesting trick up their sleeves, though, and that is the link itself. The link is fully visible and appears to lead to a Facebook app (apps.facebook.com/awkwardhaha), something you'd have to give explicit permission to access your data and post to your wall. But clicking on the link actually leads to an external site with the title "Videos here - Powered by CO.CC." Almost immediately after launching, a fake Facebook login pops up. Enter your e-mail and password here and it's all over.

As usual, no matter what you do, there's no video to be found. (And guess what? Even if there was, you probably wouldn't be starring in it.) If you see this link on your page or a friend's profile, don't click on it -- just remove it by clicking the 'X' next to the post. Then contact your friend to let them know their account has been hacked, followed by an important lesson in social networking security.
