Besides their 45th Anniversary Camaro, Chevrolet is also planning on a 2012 Corvette Centennial (100th Anniversary) Edition, commemorating the founding of Chevrolet by race car driver, Louis Chevrolet. What better way to celebrate a racing heritage, then with the Corvette, which is one motor sports most feared competitors on both the street and track.
However, before you start envisioning superchargers and race-ready drivetrains, the Centennial Edition is a lot more show than go. Chevrolet starts out with a coat of Carbon Flash paint on the exterior, and then adds a few subtle “100 Chevrolet” logos on the B-pillars. The interior is graced with Alcantara fabric sewn together with red stitching.
The package is available on all models of Corvette’s (coupe or convertible). The Grand Sport will get the choice between 18 or 19-inch special edition wheels, while the ZR-1 and Z06 will receive the option of up to a 20-inch rim. All special editions will get red brake calipers and the option to add Chevrolet’s magnetically adjustable suspension, which always comes highly recommended.
Barrett-Jackson auctioned off the first of this Corvette edition this week, but the rest of the lot will go on sale this summer.
