Ford recalls 3.000 Five Hundred and Mercury Montego units

Ford Motor Company announced that 2.945 Five Hundred and Mercury Montego units will be recalled to replace the fuel tanks because of the welds.
According to the automaker the almost 3.000 cars of the Five Hundred and Mercury Montego which will be recalled may not have proper welds between the fuel tank and the fuel filler neck, and they could suffer significant damages in case of a major rear impact.
The Ford Motor company said that minor fuel leaks have already been reported by its customers in a small number of cars but no reports of crashes or injuries resulted.
The car manufacturer will start notifying owners of the Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego on the 15th of August and customers will have until the August 31 to file for reimbursement if they have replaced the fuel tank for this issue.
