
Yesterday,
Arizona experienced a Haboob. That’s right: a
Haboob. A Haboob is a giant, slow moving
dust storm that ominously creeps across the desert during the monsoon season. There are only two places in the world where Haboobs naturally occur: in the Sahara Desert in Africa, and in the Sonoran Desert in the Southwestern U.S. and Mexico. Phoenix, Arizona happens to sit right in the middle of the Sonoran Desert, so they get a pretty good Haboob attack every few years. Here’s some time-lapsed video of a crazy person driving straight into yesterday’s massive Arizona dust storm:
