Rides : 2012 Land Rover Defender comes with new 2.2L EU5 diesel engine

2012 Land Rover Defender comes with new 2.2L EU5 diesel engine

Until 2015 when Land Rover will replace the actual generation of Defender, the automaker is updating the off-road rig with an all-new diesel engine for the 2012 model year.

The 2012 Defender with DPF – diesel particle filter will make the 2012 model the cleanest Defender ever made with combined cycle CO2 emission of 266g/km for the 90 and 295g/km for the 110 and 130 versions.

The 2012 Defender keeps the GFT MT 82 six-speed transmission, which offers both a high top gear for cruising and an enhanced low-speed crawl capability. Top speed has been raised to 90mph compared with the current Defender’s 82mph.
Two new option packages are available.
The Comfort Pack is priced from £1650 and features a CD player, air conditioning, and power windows / locks. On the other hand, the £1500 Off-Road Pack adds anti-lock brakes, off-road tires, underbody protection and a ball hitch.
Land Rover Global Brand Director John Edwards said: “With the introduction of the new 2.2-litre diesel engine and two option packs, the Defender for 2012 now offers greater customer choice than ever before.”
Prices for the 2012 Defender start from £21,895.
