Rides : 2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible going to Detroit

The North American based automaker Ford is planning to present the 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show.

After the new Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has been officially presented to the public in November 2011 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the car manufacturer has decided to release a new version of it, which has dropped its top and was named the “Convertible”. Ford says that the exterior changes of the Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible are following the lines of the coupe and the model will be coming with some new wheels, an overall improved look and a soft top, in order to “impress” the audience at the next month’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS).
Power to the 2013 Ford Mustang GT500 Convertible is expected to come from a V8 engine, but there’s no official word yet on the output or the performance. As a reminder, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Coupe, revealed at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, was powered by a 5.8 liter aluminum-block supercharged V8 engine which was developing a total output of 650 horsepower and had a peak torque of 813 Nm (600 lb-ft), mated to an upgraded six-speed manual transmission, which was offering the model a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h).
