Rides : Recalls - Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator

The North American based automaker Ford has recently announced a recall for the Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles, because of an issue with the head restraints.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the 2012 model year Ford Expedition and 2012 model year Lincoln Navigator models will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers in order to get the problem with the head restraints fixed. The feds are saying that 569 units of the two SUVs will be affected by the recall which was issued because the vehicles don’t comply with federal safety standards. Besides the head restraints problem, the second row of seats in the two models might be improperly welded.
The NHTSA says that in the event of a crash, the head restraint might not provide the required strength, increasing the risk of an injury. The head restraints and the second row of seats will be fixed or changed free of charge and owners of the two models have already been notified. Ford says that the recall will begin on February 20, 2012, and owners can contact Ford Motor Company at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
