The
German based automaker BMW has recently announced a recall for 365,000
units of the 5-Series and 6-Series in the United States because of a
potential fire risk.
The NTHSA says that the battery cable cover in the trunk might have been improperly installed and if ignored, this can lead to start failure and even fire. There is no word on any reports received from customers about any crashes or injuries caused by this problem in the 5-Series and 6-Series. Owners of the two models mentioned above will have to drive their vehicles to the local dealers and the repair will take about 30 minutes, at no charge. If you have more questions on this subject, you can contact BMW North America at 1-800-831-1117.
