Porsche
plans to add at least four new vehicles in the following 5 years,
including the 918 Spyder hybrid sports car and the Macan mid-sized
crossover.
The automaker also considers a sports car slotted between the 911 and
918 Spyder and also a sedan smaller than the Panamera. CEO Matthias
Mueller said that the decision regarding the sports car will not be made
sooner than 2013, and if it will be manufactured it will be on the new
Volkswagen Group MMB architecture for midengine and rear-wheel drive
cars, also to be used for the next-generation Audi R8 and Lamborghini
Gallardo.Mueller said that there are big chances for the Pajun, the smaller sedan which has been named after Panamera Jr., to be manufactured but gave no timetable for this plan. The model will compete with Mercedes-Benz E class and the BMW 5 series. Although Porsche unveiled a Panamera wagon at the Paris auto show two months ago, the model will not make it for production.
The automaker presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show last week the second generation of the Cayman coupe and it will hit showrooms in the US in April. The redesigned Cayman will offer a fuel economy with 15% better than the current model.
