The aftermarket specialists at ABT Sportsline have revealed their latest creation, an upgrade package for the Audi A6 Avant.

According to ABT Sportsline, the Audi A6 Avant has been fitted with a new body kit, but the vehicle’s engine lineup hasn’t been left aside either. Customers can order the Audi A6 Avant with the ABT Sportsline package which is adding the aerodynamic package, for 5,630 euros, the diesel engine upgrade for 3,800 euro and the petrol engine upgrade for 3,990 euros, along with a new ABT sports suspension and a fresh set of alloy wheels.
The Audi A6 Avant with the 3.0 liter TDI diesel engine is now developing a total output of 360 horsepower and a peak torque of 700 Nm, compared to the standard version which was offering 313 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. The upgrade for the 3.0 liter TFSI petrol burner on the Audi A6 Avant is taking the total output to 420 horsepower and 540 Nm, 120 HP and 100 Nm of torque more than the standard version. The braking system has also been improved in order to handle the extra power and the wheels can be ordered from 19 to 21 inch, wrapped in high performance tires.

Volkswagen Ag., on Wednesday said is recalling 317 Audi A6 made between April 8 and May 26, 2011 because of a problem at the side curtain airbag.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the side-curtain airbags may not deploy in a crash.

“Due to a problem in the stitching process of the curtain airbag, the seam of the airbag may not be stitched properly,” said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem.

“In the event of a crash, the head curtain airbag may not deploy and will not be able to properly protect an occupant, increasing the risk of an injury.”

Volkswagen expects to notify A6 owners about the recall in January. At that time, they’ll be able to take their vehicles to an Audi dealer, who will replace the left and/or right curtain airbag free of charge.

Note, the 2012 Audi A6 is still one of the safest vehicles on the road today, having earned top honors in recent Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) crash tests.

The world’s biggest customizer of Audi models, ABT Sportsline, has just unveiled its latest creation for the A6 Avant, under the AS6 Avant name.

ABT Sportsline has decided to offer a number of cosmetic changes like the rear spoiler and rear apron with integrated four-tail exhaust pipes.
The AS6 Avant is powered by the same petrol and diesel engines, which are now delivering more ponies, so ABT Sportsline played with the 3.0 TFI which has been boosted from 300 horsepower to 420 HP, making the car accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds, while the two versions of the 3.0 liter TDI unit are now delivering 240 and 300 horsepower, from 204 and 245.
Being a tuning kit massive wheels are also available for the A6 Avant and customers can choose from 19, 20 or 21 inch wrapped in performance tires.
ABT Sportsline didn’t announce a starting price for their AS6 Avant tuning kit but if you want your Audi to look more than a family car than this seems like a good choice.
