Ann Coulter Refuses to Board Airplane With Black Pilot

ann_coulter_rect

Conservative commentator and author Ann Coulter refused to stay on board a Miami to New York commercial airline flight today after learning the pilot was a woman of African-American descent.
According to witness reports Coulter was concerned the experienced, decorated pilot in question may have gained her position as a result of affirmative action and wasn't fully qualified to fly.
The incident began when Coulter boarded the American Airlines flight and took up her first class seat. After a trip to the bathroom, she noticed the pilot was a black woman and became immediately distraught.
According to passengers, at that point Coulter stood at the front of the cabin and began screaming her concerns to the entire flight as they finished boarding.
"Aw come on people, a black woman flying a plane? You know she got that job through affirmative action. Am I the only one worried about this? I mean hello? Our lives are at stake here..."
Ann Of Mean Labels
The confused passengers weren't sure what to make of Coulter's outburst, and remained completely silent.
"Really? So we're just gonna let this happen? We're gonna let political correctness determine our safety? Is this what we've come to in Obama's America? Letting just anyone fly a plane out of fear of being called a racist?"
"Oh come on don't be coy. I know you're all thinking it! I just have the courage to say what everyone on this plane is thinking. Am I right?"
"I mean what's next? Are we gonna let Mexicans become doctors now? Jesus Christ people!"
Realizing her efforts to provoke a mutiny had come to naught, Coulter then took her carry-on bags and bolted back up the jetway towards the gate against the orders of the flight attendants.
Final Descent Into Madness
In reality the pilot of the plane was trained by the U.S. Air Force and was a decorated veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, where she flew aerial refueling missions for transport and reconnaissance aircraft.
She has been flying for American Airlines for four years, and is one of that airline's most experienced 737 pilots.
After the incident Coulter was taken in for questioning because violating the instructions of flight attendants is a federal offence. Law enforcement officials, however, say no charges will be filed.
"Clearly this woman has some sort of mental illness," explains TSA spokesperson Dirk Diggler, "We recommended against pressing charges, and mandated a full psychiatric evaluation."
Coulter, however, is unapologetic about her actions. In a statement released on her official Tumblr she defended her decision to stay off the plane.
"I made the best decision I could with the information I had at the time. I'm not gonna risk my life for the sake of some liberal fantasy of equality. "
Coulter is known for her controversial views on race, and is the author of the recent book Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama.

Kentucky Man Says His Watermelon-Eating Obama Sculpture Ain't Racist

“That's my buddy. He don't talk. Don't make no smart comments,” says Danny Hafley.
"The way I look at it, it's freedom of speech," says Hafley.
He says it's meant as a joke and not a racist display, and that everybody loves it. "If I had a dollar for everyone who stopped and took a picture of it I'd be a millionaire."
When asked the reason behind the watermelon, amateur comedian Hafley responded that he thought the figure "might get hungry standing out here."
While several neighbors didn't find anything wrong with the life-sized doll and said Hafley had the right to display it, one anonymous neighbor felt others would find it racist.
"If he wants to place it someplace else that would be fine," said the neighbor. "We don't have black people in this community but I'm sure they travel this road like everybody else does. They could be offended. I don't agree with it."
The neighbor added that the figure originally had a sign asking people to pray that Obama won't destroy America.
Hafley says he bought the Obama mask on sale after Halloween and put up his tribute around the time of November's presidential election.

Orlo stylist Zandra Bennett sues Meatpacking District salon for racial discrimination

Ex-employee says she was insulted for bringing in black and Hispanic clients

Stylist Orlando Pita, part-owner of his namesake Orlo salon, works on Naomi Campbell's look. Despite the supermodel's appearances at the salon, an ex-stylist says in a discrimination suit that she was told by Pita's partner that "black hair doesn't pay the bills in here."

AN OWNER of one of the most expensive hair salons in the city routinely belittled an African-American hair stylist with racial comments and blasted her for bringing in black and Hispanic clients instead of white ones, a lawsuit charges.
“Black hair doesn’t pay the bills in here,” George Casson, a part owner, is accused of telling stylist Zandra Bennett.
Bennett is suing Orlo, a Meatpacking District salon that charges $800 for a haircut and has celebrity clients like Jennifer Connelly, Kirsten Dunst and Naomi Campbell.
According to court papers, Bennett started as an assistant in April 2010. She was promoted to stylist five months later.
Until she was fired in January 2011, Bennett says in the suit, she was barraged with racial comments from Casson and a receptionist, Alfred Malavo.
She said Casson, who did not respond to calls, steered black clients to her, telling her she “doesn’t know how to do white hair” and calling Bennett’s hair “nappy.”
Bennett also said Malavo called her names like “blackie” and “n-----ette” and “slave.”
When she was hospitalized for job-related stress in January 2011, Casson fired her by text message.
Bennett is charging that Casson, his partner and the salon’s namesake Orlando Pita and Malavo, created a hostile and discriminatory work environment.

Caps' Ward: Racist tweets 'didn't ruin my day'

Washington Capitals forward Joel Ward said the racial slurs directed at him on Twitter after he scored the series-winning overtime goal to eliminate the Boston Bruins were "shocking to see, but it didn't ruin my day."Washington Capitals winger Joel Ward (42) is congratulated by teammates after his series-clinching overtime goal against the Boston Bruins.

"It doesn't faze me at all," Ward told USA TODAY Sports. "We won, and we are moving on. … People are going to say what they want to say."
He said he didn't know about the issue until Washington teammate Jeff Halpern brought it to his attention on the team plane heading home from Boston. Ward said Halpern "apologized" that Ward had to see that.
"Halpern just took offense that people weren't talking about the goal, (but rather) getting into racist remarks," Ward said. "I think he was telling me had my back, and felt bad that (some Twitter users) were talking about the negative side, instead of how we are moving on."
The NHL, in a statement, said, "The racially charged comments distributed via digital media following last night's game were ignorant and unacceptable. The people responsible for these comments have no place associating themselves with our game."
Ward, 31, a four-year NHL veteran, says he never has before experienced any racist remarks directed toward him at the NHL level.
"Growng up, at a few minor tournaments, you catch a few kids saying things," Ward said. "But at that age, I didn't even know what the terminology meant. But (at this level) I've never heard anything. I know other guys have, I believe, but I've had nothing directed to me like that."
Ward's goal at 2:57 of overtime knocked off the defending Stanley Cup champions and put the Capitals into the second round against a still-undetermined opponent. Ward had six goals in 73 games this season. "It was definitely the biggest goal I've ever been a part of," he said.
Said Ward's teammate, Matt Hendricks: "It was the greatest feeling ever after the game, winning Game 7 in Boston. Then you get on the plane afterward, and have all of this come to life. … It just made me sick to my stomach."
Hendricks said he couldn't get the tweets out of his mind. "What we accomplished just went out the window," he said. "I couldn't think about that any more. It was very disappointing."
Philadelphia Flyers winger Wayne Simmonds, who trains with Ward in the offseason, called the tweets disgusting.
"Obviously, things get said," Simmonds said. "It's the internet. They can say whatever they want and they don't have to show their face. It's disgusting. I've had things like that happen to me before."
During a Flyers-Detroit Red Wings preseason game in London, Ontario last Sept. 22, a 26-year-old hockey fan threw a banana peel onto the ice as Simmonds was attempting a shootout attempt.
"It's not something that you want to happen, but it's sad in this day and age that it continues to happen," Simmonds said. "I'm sure Ward is not even paying attention to it. It is what it is. People can be as gutless as they want and they don't have to show up. They just throw a comment out there on the internet. It's getting kind of ridiculous.
"I think social media is not meant for that. It's to say, 'Hey, nice goal, congratulations.' "
Ward said he hasn't had time to comb through all of the comments on his own personal Twitter account, but he has seen a summary of the racist-tone posts on various website blogs.
"I think it is just kids," Ward said. "It has no effect on me whatsoever. I've been playing this game long enough and I've not had any encounters of that nature."
He said he has always felt comfortable in an NHL dressing room and on the ice.
"There is no lying about it. …I'm definitely the one black guy in a room with 20 white guys," Ward said. "There are definitely some cultural differences, such as taste in music, but I've never heard anything derogatory."
He says he has no concern about his safety moving forward in the playoffs.
"I'm pretty laid-back and I get along with a lot of people," Ward said. "I don't fear anything like that, and I have a good group of guys to protect me."
Ward said his goal today is to go on his Twitter account and thank the people who came to his defense through social media. Many have gone after those who posted racist remarks. Some who have made racist comments have already closed their accounts. One person apologized.
"I'm definitely getting a lot of support," Ward said. "There have been a lot of Boston fans who have supported me, which is very cool to see. No hard feelings from me. This is a game."

Investigation at SUNY New Paltz after ‘Colored Only,’ other racist signs posted on campus

'Colored' sign appeared on water fountain; others called for 'lynchings'

SUNY New Paltz

Racist signs posted around SUNY New Paltz this month have caused an uproar on campus, students said.
Campus police and administrators at SUNY New Paltz have launched an investigation after several racists signs - including one on a water fountain that said "Colored Only" - were posted around campus this month.
On Nov. 8, a small "Colored Only" sticker was posted on a water fountain on the first floor of the university's Humanities Building, the school president said in a memo after the incident.
Hours later, another sign in the shape of a hand giving the middle finger was found in Lefevre Hall, a dorm, that said "Lynching n---ers program at 7:30 main lounge," according to a student Facebook page.
That sign originally advertised a dorm event before it was torn into the shape of a hand and scrawled with the racist message, a student said.
The signs were torn down and given to campus police, and SUNY New Paltz president Donald Christian sent an email to students condemning the incidents.
But two days later, another sign calling for "lynching" was spotted in an elevator, the school and students said.

Campus police told the Times Herald-Record that they had a few leads, but no arrests have been made.
In statements to students this week, Christian called for a campus-wide forum to address the incidents on Nov. 30.
"We condemn such acts as contrary to our community values, hopes, and aspirations," Christian said in an email on Wednesday.
"While we cannot know the motivations of the person(s) responsible for these acts, having them splinter our community may well feed into [their\] goals. We must not allow that to happen."
Junior Jonathan Espinosa, 20, said he was one of the first to see the water fountain sticker and called it a "hate crime."
The Bronx native told the Daily News that some suspected the signs were posted in reaction to Black Solidarity Day, a Nov. 8 event when many black students were given the day off to gather off campus and celebrate their heritage.
"We came together peacefully among each other as family and friends. And for this to happen the day after was very shocking," he said.
The university's student association and black student union called for students to attend a talk dubbed “Racism at SUNY New Paltz” on Thursday night.
“Some students have said to ignore it, but it think if we continue ignore it, we enable to people to continue to do stuff like this,” Espinosa said.

Tech : Confronting Google Search : Racism

Google is the biggest search engine since Alta Vista, probably.  It’s always there to answer your questions.  Maybe not accurately, but  it tries.  And, for the last while, it’s also tried its hand at asking your question before you do as well.  Basically, Google recognizes what you’re typing in and, based on the most common searches using the same words, it offers some suggestions for you.  These suggestions are almost always either borderline insane or offensive.  But they can also be informative, as in the case of modern race relations.  How far has the civil rights movement taken us, anyway?  How much of a divide is there across races?  To the search engine, where we will confront these questions head on and, in the interests of advancing racial harmony, answer them!

White people, why do you wear shoes in the house?  This is obviously a cause for concern for people of all races and, frankly, I think it transcends race.  No one should wear shoes in the house.  It’s not proper.  But, for those curious, we asked our resident expert on whiteness (our intern) why white people wear shoes in the house.  The answer, of course, was because an unshod white foot will quickly pick up dirt and debris, marring its porcelain-like veneer and, if caught at an improper angle by one’s social betters or equals, could be mistaken for the dusky foot of a Mulatto.

Oh God.  It’s so racist.  Oh man.  OK, we’re trying to keep this open and non-judgmental.  We’re trying to be helpful.  So let’s take this one step at a time.
  1. Everyone loves Red Lobster.  It’s delicious seafood at a reasonable price and anyone who offers you endless shrimp has to be pretty decent.
  2. This is an optical illusion, probably a trick your mind has played on you after noticing how much you want to kiss Kanye West.
  3. Black people say axe when a hatchet just won’t do.

Oh, this isn’t much better at all. But hey, kudos to the ignorant for heading to Google in an effort to better understand the world around them, or whatever.  On to the answers and racial harmony!
  1. Asia is a massive continent and includes such countries as Myanmar, Armenia, India, Russia, Syria, Japan, Turkmenistan and Yemen.  All of these people will likely squint when looking at the sun however, in their natural state, they have many different shaped eyes.  Some even have eye patches! Ahoy, Thai pirates!
  2. Have you perhaps confused Asians with Mexican wrestlers?  This is a common mistake.
  3. Ironically, for the same reason Australian’s love it.

Do you feel the racial harmony yet?  It’s like a sunny day in Arizona up in here.  If you have questions about our Latino friends, we can offer some insight.  Insight into your terrible, terrible questions.
  1. Are you sure all Latino men cheat?  Isn’t it more likely that your friend earned all those hotels fair and square and landed on Boardwalk thanks to a lucky roll of the dice and nothing more?
  2. Great thespians such as Benjamin Bratt, Jimmy Smits and Javier Bardem have all played dark roles but don’t be so quick to typecast them. They can all play fun and light characters, too!
  3. Many scholars believe life originated in the Fertile Crescent which, of course, is in Asia.  Isn’t that interesting?
  4. It’s the land of opportunity!

I don’t want to get bogged down in stuff that I feel may not be serious.  We all know white people eat mayonnaise.  They also like mayonnaise and they are likely to eat mayonnaise for dinner. However, as we can see, the questions do get more in depth towards the end there with the question regarding what white people smell like.  The answer to that question (tell me if you saw this coming) is power.  Which, interestingly, smells like mayo.

Thanks for being so inquisitive, guys.  It’s cool that your questions make me nervous about walking down the street alone and whatnot, and I’d shut my laptop if anyone walked in the room, but that’s cool.  Knowledge isn’t always pretty.  So maybe these questions are a little more horrible than the last round, but that’s OK.  The Klan is online now and they’re a curious, if semi-literate, rabble.  Let’s help them out.
  1. What?
  2. Black people, over many years of trial and error, have developed a system whereby they wash their hair when they shower.
  3. When they wash their hair.  Unless you mean what time of day, in which case you should ask black people on a case by case basis to get an answer.  I like to think most will say in the morning or before bed.

Rice was first cultivated in the Yangtze River valley in China.  For a few hundred years, it could only be eaten at special occasions and celebrations.  Then, as cultivation expanded, it became more common and affordable and was enjoyed all the time.  When Marco Polo famously made his trip to the far East he was the first non-Asian permitted to enjoy rice, but he could only eat it under full sun to prove he was not a demon.  After trade routes had been set up with China, this tradition was upheld for a few years until it was discovered demons could eat rice in just about any kind of lighting.  But back to the point, Asians eat rice whenever they like.

Sometimes we forget that even white people, historically the holders of all the power, are just as confusing and different to other races as other races are to them.  Poor white people!  But poor you if you don’t understand them, either.  So let’s help with a couple of questions that clearly need answering.
  1. After lunch but before bed.
  2. Same, but generally on Thanksgiving Day.  White people opted to celebrate it on the same day as everyone else back in 1951.

Let’s end things on a bit of an existential note, because really, does the essence of a person have a color?  Not to invoke any religious aspect, but for lack of a better word, is your soul black or white?  And, as someone took the time do ask, where do black people go when they die?  For just under $8,000, they can become a 0.5 carat diamond thanks to the good people at LifeGem.  Of course, white people can do that, too.
