Dating : 10 Habits That Are Keeping You Single

Finding that special someone is difficult, but it’s even harder if you have bad habits that keeping pushing him or her away. Whether you are afraid of commitment, super shy or have a history of lying, these types of bad habits will keep you from moving forward in a relationship and leave you lonely. Here are 10 bad habits that are keeping you single:
  1. You Have a Fear of Commitment: If you have a fear of commitment, you’re digging yourself deeper into a hole of singlehood. Unless you have a mutual understanding about not getting serious or saying “I love you”, most relationships will suffer when one person is afraid to fully commit. Instead of dating around and breaking things off after a few months, try taking things slow and letting the relationship progress naturally.
  2. You Always Put Yourself First: We all know that in order to love another you have to love yourself first, but so many people take this to the extreme. Relationships take sacrifice, selflessness and lots of work. For people who are in love with themselves, this poses a major problem because they aren’t comfortable sharing their lives with another person. If you want to break this bad habit, you’re going to have to stop being selfish and start caring for someone other than yourself.
  3. You Play Hard to Get: If you like to play hard to get, you are probably familiar with the single life. Playing hard to get may seem like a good idea in the beginning to see how interested the other person is, but it can also frustrate and drive them away. Instead of playing games and confusing the other person, be upfront about your feelings and show him or her that you do like them.
  4. You Lack Confidence: If you lack self confidence, you can’t expect someone else to fill that void for you. Confidence is key to finding that special someone and making a relationship work. You have to find happiness within yourself before trying to date or you’re going to keep being single.
  5. You Aren’t Over Your Ex: If you let an ex boyfriend or girlfriend interfere with every new relationship you try to start, you’re going to stay single.
If you can’t get over your last relationship, it’s going to take more than dating around to get you to that point. Getting over your ex is the only way you’ll be able to start and keep a new relationship.
  6. You Cheat: Cheating is not just a bad habit; it’s a terrible lifestyle choice. If you cheat on every man or woman you date, you are unlikely to have a fulfilling relationship with anyone and you’ll stay single. If you want to break yourself from this selfish habit, it’s going to take some serious willpower and maturity.
  7. You Lie: Lying is an awful habit, especially in a relationship. If you consistently lie to someone you’re dating, you will end up single. You should try to break this habit before you get into deeper water, but it’s going to take a great deal of selflessness and truth-telling to get there.
  8. You are Desperate: Desperation can make you date all the wrong people and keep you from finding the right guy or gal. The pressures to find a boyfriend or girlfriend, get married and have children should not drive you in the dating game. Regardless of your age &ndash there is no rush. Your desperation will be obvious to the other person and may drive them away, so slow things down and just have fun.
  9. You are Shallow: If you’re shallow and unwilling to change, you’re probably pretty familiar with the single life. Shallowness will not get you very far in the dating game and you’ll never be completely satisfied. If you want to break this habit of dating people only for their looks and other superficial reasons, you’re going to have to make some major changes to fix yourself first.
  10. You are Too Shy: If you are a very shy person, it can be hard to start or keep a relationship going. Shyness can keep a person from approaching people of the opposite sex and making a good impression, in addition to making a relationship extra complicated. You really have to ditch your shy tendencies and come out of your shell to make something happen.
