The
new Mercedes S Class will arrive next year as a 2014 model, but this
time the range won’t just consist of a large luxury car – the new S
Class is expected to feature six models, including a four-seater cabrio
model for the first time.
Most probably, the S600 Pullman will be the replacement for the Maybach brand.
Dr Uwe Ernstberger – Mercedes program manager for the S-Class – told Auto Express at the Detroit Motor Show:
“The S-Class is the best luxury car in the world, and we have many surprises in terms of technology for the new model. It will deliver something very different to its rivals – and it will have a much broader range,” he said.In addition to the Cabriolet S Class there will be a two-door S-Class coupe, which will be badged as such, rather than use the CL badge of the current car.
Besides a lot new safety features, the upcoming S Class will feature an updated infotainment system called mbrace2 – a platform that was unveiled this week in Las Vegas. The system gives drivers access to a variety of cloud-based apps.
Some of the pre-loaded applications in mbrace2 include Facebook, Yelp, Google, and Street View integration. It also features Internet browsing, news updates and concierge services as well as collision notifications.
