Lists : Worst Christmas Gifts Ever - POLL
You Shouldn’t Have. I Mean It. (Worst Gift Ever.)
This week, City Room’s James Barron asked readers to recall the worst Christmas gifts they had ever received. Here is a selection, lightly edited. Merry, um, Christmas.
I’d tell you the worst Christmas gift I ever got, but I don’t, to this day, know what it was. It was a secret Santa gift from someone at a company I do consulting work for. I can’t describe it. It was something like a plastic, brown mushroom/toadstool thing, with things glued on it, in a box with clear plastic over it. … I really don’t know. I showed it to a friend of mine, an older gentleman who was fond of collecting interesting objects, and he asked me if he could have it. Not because it was worth anything, but because it was the oddest, most inexplicable object he ever saw, and he wanted it as a conversation piece (or as he called it, a corpus delicti). I gave it to him. Someday, scientists will discover the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider. It will look like this thing, but much smaller.
— Tom Neile
My grandmother gave me a large, brown stuffed toad that she bought in Guatemala. I was about 14 years old.
— Tim O’Connor
One year, when I was about 12, I got a boxed set on “How to Play Contract Bridge.” It was very puzzling — I had never expressed an interest in bridge or any other card game. I never opened the box. Decades on, I still have a strong prejudice against the game because of that strange, disappointing Christmas gift.
— Dinah D
Snow pants. I was 10 years old and really, really wanted a book on Pompeii.
— homer
A Harrah’s Casino coffee mug full of quarters given to me by my grandparents. The mug read, “Life begins at 21!” I was 9.
— Sharon
One year my elderly great-aunt game me a box of straws and my sister received a tube of mustard. This remains a longstanding family joke nearly 60 years later.
— John Freitag
As a little girl, I always loved dinosaurs — not Barbies. When I was about 7 years old, there was a huge mechanical T. rex that I absolutely fell in love with, and my aunt promised to get for me. When we went to her house to open presents that Christmas Eve, I couldn’t contain my excitement as she plopped a big box down in front of me. As I tore off the paper, however, that excitement became utter confusion, disappointment, and downright sadness as the package within revealed itself not to be a dinosaur, but an Easy Bake oven. I’m pretty sure I cried on the way home, and I never ever opened that blasted oven. My aunt told my mom she had the T. rex in her cart, then saw the Easy-Bake Oven and thought it was “much more appropriate for a little girl.”
— Whitney
I got a bird feeder last Christmas from my parents. I am 28 and have no interest in bird feeders.
— Dave O
We received a can of haggis (yes, I guess haggis comes in a can) and a copy of the book “The Road.” It was quite the depressing Christmas.
— Stephanie Young
When I was in eighth grade, rolly backpacks began entering the middle school scene. I remember the hapless sixth graders pulling their little backpacks around while the older kids would “accidentally” kick them and say, “This isn’t an airport.”
During Christmas, my sister and I saved the biggest, prettiest-wrapped gift for last. When I unwrapped my present, my eyes opened wide. “It’s … a backpack,” I managed to say, as my sister halfheartedly opened hers. My father, noticing how we weren’t ecstatic, tried to remedy the situation by holding up the box so that we would understand, “Yeah, it’s a backpack! And it has wheels! You can roll it!” (As if we didn’t already know.)
Afterward, I called my best friend, who promptly laughed while I cried. For the rest of the school year, I used my sister’s old backpack (sans wheels), while my sister ashamedly tucked in the handles and wore the rolly backpack on her back.
Oh, the horrors.
— junia
My worst: a rifle-toting, battery-powered toy soldier that crawled along the floor on his elbows. I was at least 32 and it was my ex-wife who gave it to me.
— Esteban
My worst gift may have been when I found out there wasn’t a Santa — because of my worst gift. It was after WWII, and my parents had bought a toy gas station that had to be assembled. It was made with paper pictures of the outside of a gas station printed on cheap boards, plus a platform with the pumps, etc. I had gone to sleep, as per instructions, but was awakened by arguing, shouting, and cursing — not what was expected from Santa. I quietly got up and peeked around the doorway, only to see it was my parents struggling to get the gas station together. After that Christmas, “Santa” had a glass of whiskey left for him rather than a glass of milk.
— Eugene Scanlan
My father came home from New York City with a big gift when I was 8. It turned out to be a sturdy blue suitcase with my initials in gold by the handle. I was worried from then on when I was going to be sent away.
— victoria woodrow
In June of 1974, I went to work as a copy editor for The Press-Register of Mobile, Ala. When Christmas rolled around, I learned that the year-end bonus was $5 for each year of service. Because I had worked there for seven months, my bonus was prorated. After taxes, it totaled $1.26. It was the first (and last) check I ever received that I could cash at an ice-cream truck.
— tom powell
When I was a kid, I had an uncle who was in the garment business. Maternity lingerie, to be specific. Every year I would get nightgowns (with these weird slits) and pantyhose with big lacy tops big enough to cover a watermelon. Needless to say — I thought the nightgowns were just rejects from his factory and the pantyhose were just too big.
— Patricia Bridges
I should have known my marriage was over when I got ice cube trays from my husband for Christmas. I’d survived the coffee-pot-when-I-didn’t-drink-coffee year. And the year of three boxes of clothes all in the wrong size. But ice cube trays? The message was clear. I just didn’t see it for another few years.
— Peggy Bird
The worst as in destructive: My brothers sometime in the 1950s received an air gun and shot the ornaments off the revolving aluminum Christmas tree.
— joan
As I remember back to my childhood, it seems that I was always getting “almost” the real thing when it came to toys. There were many popular toys, but somehow my parents always managed to get something close, but not quite. When I was about 10 years old, everyone was getting pogo sticks. The basic model was a pole with a heavy-duty spring on the bottom and two rubber foot pads to stand on. However, the model I received that Christmas also had large rubber ball attached to the top of the pole. It probably was for safety purposes, but I remember the first time using this contraption, I grabbed hold of the ball and started to bounce. Boy, was I surprised when the ball came off in my hand and the pole went wild, almost knocking me out.
— Norman Aabye
When my sister was newly divorced for the second time and completely miserable, our mother gave her a cookbook called “Cooking for One” and some sort of individual crockpot to go with it.
— Olivia, Rhinebeck
One Christmas when I was about 8, we received a package from our cousins in California. We waited until all the other gifts were open before we cut through the brown paper box. We were all excited because they had never sent us gifts before. There was a bunch of rotten bananas, some old quarts of used paint and other garbage. All three of us kids were very disturbed and confused, and I don’t remember my parents having much to say, especially my father, whose brother had sent the package. Forty years later, I still don’t get it.
— rather not say
A toilet paper holder made of a wire coat hanger and lace, which gave the receiver the ability to tastefully display extra rolls of toilet paper above the tank to prevent unfortunate shortages. Bless her heart, my aunt made these for everybody and really thought they were something.
— Kristin
Dawn dish soap. I was 14. I guess somebody forgot to get me a gift, so they raided the cupboards. It was in a Happy Birthday bag.
— Tara
I think I’m the only child in America who ever received coal and a letter on special Santa stationery outlining exactly why I was on Santa’s naughty list. I was 4 and a newly minted big sister, a role I did not take kindly to. Apparently, Santa (ahem, my father) thought I should be more welcoming of our newest family member. To this day, I still eye my stocking suspiciously before reaching in; I’ll never forget the shame of pulling out that Ziploc bag with a charcoal briquette in it. Oh, and yes, I got lots of other really great toys that Christmas, too. Or so I’m told. I don’t really remember.

Top 13 Crimes Committed By Guys in Santa Suits
A man in a Santa suit robbed a bank successfully. He was wearing the beard, hat and suit, even the boots, according to witnesses.
Witnesses say the entire time, he seemed clumsy and jovial. The best part? This guy stayed in character the whole time. He told everybody he was doing this because he needed to pay off the elves. How fun.
The only serious thing about this was the part when he said if there were dye bombs in the money, he would come back and kill everyone.

Santa Child Molester Stalks On The Internet
So here's what happened: The creep went on Yahoo Instant Messenger, found a profile that said it was a 13-year old girl, solicited her for sex, arranged a meeting time and place, went to said place, and got arrested because it turns out the profile was a cop in disguise. Just like in Dateline NBC's "To Catch A Predator"!
Here's the creepiest kicker: he was a shopping mall Santa for many years. Imagine, just imagine the number of children that sat on his lap over the years as he secretly wanted something he'd later actually act on.
Santa's lap will never feel safe again.
Santa Attacks 74-Year-Old Woman with a 2x4
At least that was the excuse the perpetrating Santa came up with for physically attacking a 74-year old woman with a 2x4 wooden board at a mall. He was so enraged at this woman when she allegedly stole $145 worth of Hershey's kisses from him that he knocked the poor woman unconscious with one blow to the head (using, once again, a freakin 2x4.)
When another woman came to her aide, he quickly threatened her too.
He quickly fled when he figured out mall security was going to get him, that he wasn't the actual Santa Claus and that he wasn't above the law or something. He tried to get rid of his Santa costume in order to dispose of the evidence. It's too bad for him that he was seen doing so and got caught and arrested on sight.
Man in Santa Suit Flashes Teens His Mistletoe
He did this multiple times before mall security finally had to intervene and then asked him to leave. His response? He dropped his pants again, this time to a couple that was walking in. Aaand that's what got him arrested.
Mall customers were shocked to learn that this guy didn't even work for the mall because, c'mon, who really cares about mall patrons other than people seeking revenge?
The scary part was there seemed to have been no reason for this guy's action or no motive. He just acted on impulse, which will probably get him off with a psychological disorder plea. Either way, this flasher (who is strangely reminiscent of the antagonist in that dark Seth Rogan mall comedy Observe and Report) will definitely not be showing anyone his jingle bells anytime soon (at least not by his choice.)
Children Cry As Santa Gets Arrested
After Santa's sleigh showed up at a parade-like event, one of the Santas got into a fist fight with a local teen and they started going at it. It got so bad that not only did children start to cry all the way up and down the street, but the police needed to be called.
The spectacle was so intense, and the children were so traumatized from seeing what they believed to be the "real" Santa Claus not only get into a fight, but to then be arrested (ostensibly for the remainder of Christmas) that the officers had to take the children aside and explain to them that the Santa they saw was a fake.
"The children were understandably concerned and upset at seeing what they thought was the real Santa being arrested."
"Norfolk Police are certain that the real Santa would not approve of people behaving in this way and of course he will continue his pre-Christmas visits and delivery of gifts everywhere on Christmas Day."
So, what did he do one fateful morning at 7:30AM? He followed a 12-year old girl while she was walking to school and told her to come towards him. When she didn't, he ran after her and grabbed her by the arm. Thankfully, she was able to get away... but not before he tried grabbing her again. She wrestled free and ran for it, finding safety in a convenience store.
As for Santa, he hopped onto a public bus as soon as she got away. He was apprehended shortly after because public transportation is probably the worst getaway vehicle you could possibly take. Oh right, and he was also completely unmissable since he was still wearing a full Santa suit (while holding his unicycle and carrying a huge bag with candy in it.)
I would've just taken the unicycle if I were him.
That in of itself deserves the top spot on this list.
Anyway, so he walks into the bank, shoots a warning shot at the ceiling with his semi-automatic and gets away with the money in his "reindeer pulled sleigh" that is known as a silver, four-door car. Amazingly enough, police are still out looking for Santa because it's apparently one of the best costumes to commit a crime in. It leaves a lot to the imagination, people impose their own vision of Santa on the costume and, most importantly, it hides every single defining feature the body has while still looking non-threatening until a gun is pulled.
Let's hope he is eventually apprehended like the Santa in the picture shown here.
He tried to be all jovial and Santa-like a bit later when he walked up to one of the kids and tried to put his hat on her head, but since he was a drunk middle-aged man, it didn't come across so much "Santa-like" as "creepy," so the watching mom called the cops.
Luckily there was no damage done to Santa's reputation that day in the eyes of the kids. They immediately figured out this Santa was an impostor because according to them, "he smelled like alcohol."
The jury's still out on what exactly the fact that they know what that smells like, and that that means "bad", says about their childhood.
That's exactly what happened as a guy in a Santa suit convinced security he was going to deliver Christmas presents.
Too bad they never checked the bag his elf was carrying, walking in or walking out. As soon as Santa got to the office, they locked up the doors and emptied all of the staff's account money. And then they just walked out of the building, past security, with the money all to themselves, leaving an entire nation shocked. Ocean's 11 style.
Was this the greatest heist of all time? Yes. Yes, it was.
Drunk Santa Caught Urinating in Parking Garage
What does Santa do after a hard day's work at the mall (assuming that is the mall's parking garage and not some other establishment)?
He drinks himself into a cozy stupor, of course!
Literally, he does.
And you can it check it out at 1:48 right after he gets knocked over by surprised strangers stepping out of the elevator.
The other golden moments come at 0:18 when he pees on the garage wall and at 0:39. That one you just have to see for yourself.
This drunken Santa turned belligerent when he entered a Chicago store wearing the trademark hat and fake fur coat, yelling at customers and store employees alike.
He was politely shown the door and in response to that politeness, probably sick of all the niceness Santa has to deal with, he shoved an employee to the ground and took off running down the street.
He was apprehended moments later by the police - Santa doesn't exactly blend into the crowds - after what must have been a really entertaining street chase. And once he was handcuffed, he spit and kicked at an officer in the shins, which really isn't too bad except for the fact that the guy is a civilian and the guy he's up against is freaking cop.
It's unknown what he was trying to shop for.
So awesome it attracted the attention of a girl when Santa pulled over at a gas station. Asking her if she wanted to see the Rudolph, Santa then hoisted the girl up, put her in the sidecar, and drove off with, all of this happening with her parents watching.
When the father caught up with Santa after speeding like hell to get to her, Santa prompt apologized and turned the girl over. His excuse was that he was caught up in Santa mode and that the Santa in him had taken over for a moment. The family forgave him.
Santa arrived at the office of the CEO for the Tennessee Valley Authority, North America's largest purchaser of coal, and crashed a board meeting, telling each of the board members present that they were getting a lump of coal not because they needed it, but because they were bad children.
Why? Apparently Santa was receiving letters from children who tearfully explained that the coal companies were ruining the forests they played in, along with making the air unbreathable.
There is something heroic about a childhood icon taking a stand for environmental rights, but unfortunately, his actions got him arrested immediately when he spoke at the meeting.
The saddest part is that the only crime he really committed was not bringing a camera crew with him. Had he had that resource, he'd be winning awards instead of trying to scrape together bail money.

8 reasons that Santa Claus is an unfit family holiday icon
Santa Claus is coming to town. Most people are excited about it, but it’s probably best you take a little advice from everyone’s favorite internet star, Antoine Dodson and hide yo’ kids and hide yo’ wife when Santa makes his way down your chimney. Because if you really take a close look at the guy, you probably won’t want him rummaging through your living room while you sleep. Here are eight reasons that Santa Claus is an unfit family holiday icon.
8 He’s ObeseThere’s no question that obesity is a serious problem in America. Perhaps part of the reason it’s even an issue is because, at a very early age, we give our children this jolly fat man to look up to. The guy has a strict diet of cookies and candy canes and is grossly overweight, yet he still has people who wait in line for hours just to sit in his greasy lap. What kid wouldn’t want to grow up to be idolized just like Santa Claus is? That’s clearly where the gorging begins and it’s a lost cause from that moment on.
7 He’s CockyIn the song, “Here Comes Santa Claus” which is already a song about him, even the street he uses has his name in it. You know, “…right down Santa Claus Lane…”. I mean, come on, all the streets in the world and he has to use the one that’s named after him and then have everyone sing about it? How stuck up is this guy?! He’s one speech-interruption away from being Kanye West.
6 He Pretty Much Runs A SweatshopLet’s be honest. The big guy gets all the glory while those elves are really the ones who do all the work. He stands around and makes them build toys, clean up after the reindeer, and prepare him for the only night the giant slacker even leaves the house all year. And all without pay or a medical plan. Come to think of it, with those credentials, if this whole Christmas thing doesn’t work out, Santa could probably find a job working for The Gap.
5 He Breaks Your Children’s HeartsYour kid spends much of his or her early life believing in this mystical and magical being. Then comes the day when you have to break the news to them that he doesn’t actually exist. And that’s when they learn that all of those hours they spent being extra good, doing chores around the house, and writing out letters were all a bunch of BS. The Santa Claus “reveal” is the best way to give your children trust issues and also set them up for a lifetime of continuous disappointment. Thanks, Santa.
4 He’s An Expert At Breaking and EnteringI don’t understand how we give this dude a free pass every year. He’s found the cleanest and quietest way to sneak into all of our homes and we just let him do it. Sure, he drops off a few wooden sleds and crappy rocking horses, but does anyone ever check to see if Mom’s antique silver platter or Dad’s Rolex are still around on Christmas Day? Probably not. Everyone’s too busy being greedy and opening their mediocre presents to realize that the expensive stuff is good and gone.
3 “Ho Ho Ho”Call me crazy, but is “Ho” a term you want your kids to think is appropriate early in life? Rumor has it that as a child, Charlie Sheen looked up to Santa and his triple hos and promised himself that when he was all grown up, he’d top Santa someday. I haven’t been keeping score entirely, but I’m pretty sure Charlie has at least quadrupled Santa’s three measly hos. Good for him for setting a goal and sticking to it.
2 He’s A Closet AlcoholicThat red nose isn’t fooling anyone. Neither is that beer belly. Trust me, Santa is one sip of eggnog away from having his very own episodes of Intervention and Celebrity Rehab. As many addicts often do, Santa has tried to divert attention away from his problem by finding someone else to point a finger at. In this case, he chose a well-known reindeer whose shining red nose makes Santa’s own red complexion seem somewhat normal. But that’s like farting in a room full of people and blaming it on the dog. Not cool. Man up and admit that you have a problem. Leave Rudolph out of it.
1 He’s Thinking About YOUR Children 365 Days a YearThe man has devoted himself to knowing what your children are up to throughout the entire year. He’s even created a workshop where all the employees happen to look like young children. He knows when your kids are bad and he knows when they’re good. You know who else knows that much about your kids? The pedophile up the street. Santa’s an old man whom you yourself have never met, but you let your kids send letters to with their address and what toy they want most in the world. So… you’ve pretty much given a complete stranger the “candy” that will lure your child to his windowless sleigh. It’s beyond time that we set up a sex offender registry up at the North Pole due to the jolly old man and this sick obsession of his.

NIKE ZOOM KOBE VI CHRISTMAS DAY “GREEN MEANS GO”
Inspired by his annual Christmas Day game, this year vs. Miami, the Nike Zoom Kobe VI was designed in green with red laces. This performance basketball shoe was inspired by Bryant’s on-court alter ego, the Black Mamba and draws its cues from the fearsome snake. The Zoom Kobe VI incorporates key performance elements in a low-profile shoe that weighs just 10.6 ounces (men’s US size 9) making it one of Nike’s lightest basketball shoes. Kobe also wanted his shoe to provide a couture fit so designers had to find a way to provide a custom fit for the masses. To provide a custom fit, the Kobe VI features a Dual Density sockliner that molds to the shape of your foot as you wear the shoe. It wraps up higher than most sockliners to cup the foot for a better fit and feel. The sockliner works in tandem with the heel counter to provide a tighter, more comfortable fit in the heel.
The Nike Zoom Kobe VI launches in retail stores and online at nikestore.com on December 26, 2010. Customized versions will be available for sale on December 24 at NIKEiD.com. Suggested Retail: $130.00

7 gifts not to get your girlfriend this Christmas
It’s that time of the year again: You’re prepping to spend way too much time with the kin, maybe traveling across country to see them, and stressing the hell out about getting non-repulsive gifts for your loved ones. And if you have a special lady friend in your life, you may also be doubting every swipe of your credit card (or cricket sound coming from your bank account).
Because there’s already way too much pressure on you, here are some tips on what to avoid getting your girl for the holidays, along with some gift ideas that will surely induce hugs and, “You’re so sweet(s)!”
7 Workout EquipmentThis one’s kind of a duh, as it’s an annual sitcom-husband screw up during every Christmas special. She’ll take it as a hint she’s fat, blah blah blah. No matter how much she talks about wanting those Shape Up shoes, don’t give in (they’re garbage, anyway). Exception: A super cute yoga mat if she’s a Pilates or yoga enthusiast. The ones at the gym are gross.
6 Any Kitchen-esque GearThis category includes not only waffle makers and Day-Glo colored mixers, but also Fruit of the Month Clubs and bottles of liquor. (Unless you’re 16, a pint of liquor is not too thrilling, sorry.) Even if she’s a total foodie, anything falling into this realm is the opposite of personal. We may also interpret it as you telling us that you want cupcakes and quiches and we should be enthusiastic about making said snacks because the As Seen On TV-cupcake/quiche-making contraption is pink. Exception: A couples cooking class or out-of-the-ordinary fancy-schmancy dinner. We’ll also eat our faces off and get liquored up, it’ll just be not douche-y.
5 A PetThere is a reason why January is a prime-time for overpopulated shelters. Animals are not gifts. They are like mini, furry family members who we can’t necessarily return for store credit when we figure out we don’t have the time for ‘em. Exception: An awesome plant coupled with a personalized gift like a book, CD, or DVD. Perhaps we’re just hippies around these parts. We’re not familiar with a girl that doesn’t like a green thing, though. Hey, they’re alive, they brighten a room, and we won’t feel like we’re going to off ourselves when we accidentally kill them.
4 On That Note: Stuffed AnimalsYack! Leave the Teddy Bears and cushy otters for your six year-old niece. Sure, we were jealous of that chick who got that Build-a-Bear donning a stupid felt Santa hat (but was made with so much adolescent love) when we were in eighth grade. Now? They just confuse us. They collect dust. Exception: The Best Pillow Ever. Seriously. A big, down pillow. She will cuddle with that damn thing every night. It’s like a stuffed animal, minus the creepiness.
3 ClothesYou’ll risk picking the wrong size, which could be detrimental in so many ways. If it’s not her style it’ll just be awkward for her to wear it. (Remember, some of us are wary of picking out frocks for our friends of ten years, that’s how fickle we can be about fashion). Plus, that is all our mom gets us. Exception: Awesome lingerie, after checking our bra and panties drawer for sizes. That — our mom will not be getting us.
2 Gift CertificatesYes, we will probably use them. Gift certificates are the ultimate sign you gave up completely. Not swoon-worthy. Exception: A spa certificate for a massage. Most likely something we wouldn’t get ourselves but that we totally, totally want. It says, “I care about you feeling good,” rather than, “I don’t know what the f*ck I’m doing.”
1 You, Naked, With a Bow on Your Package (or a Dick in the Box)Har, har. We get it. You’re broke. You want to do it, per usual, but with a red-and-glitter-clad twist. This will just not cut it. It is very obvious you scrambled around clueless and just stuck a ribbon on your dong at midnight on December 24th. Exception: An “experience date,” like a concert ticket. The gift is still spending time and creating a memory with you (aww). And if you really are broke: at least make us a damn mix CD.
Video : How a Billionaire Does Christmas Lights
Hedge fund titan Paul Tudor Jones III spreads a little Christmas cheer around Greenwich, Conn., each year. Well maybe more than just a little.
Off-duty police officers direct traffic around the sprawling light display, allowing drivers to line up eight at a time in front of Jones’ 13,000-square-foot home on a waterfront cul-de-sac. A soundtrack synchronized to the thousands of flashing lights plays over the radio on FM90.5. The full cycle lasts nearly five minutes.
There is no official count of the spectators, but on the night The Journal attended scores of cars lined up along the streets of the quiet neighborhood for a chance to take in a light show put on by one of the richest people in the world. (WSJ was the only media organization allowed to film this year’s over-the-top show). This year’s theme: angels.
The spectacle feels almost like a drive-in movie. One young spectator taking in the hedge funder’s Christmas show for the first time exclaimed, “It’s like Disney World!”
Uncertainty surrounded the light show this year. As WSJ’s Robert Frank noted earlier this month, the display had caused complaints among some of Jones’ neighbors in Belle Haven, one of the most exclusive communities in Greenwich. Their displeasure had forced Jones to cancel his annual haunted house Halloween bash.
But for Christmas, as Frank put it: “Kinder hearts — and perhaps bigger wallets — prevailed.”

The Quincy Jones Signature Line includes three models: the Q701 reference-class premium over-ears, the Q460 high-performance portable on-ear mini headphones and the Q350 in-ear headphones that will boast distinctive AKG®-built quality and unrivaled audio engineering in an elegant, portable design, so music lovers everywhere can experience sound the way every artist intended for their music to be heard.
“Quincy Jones and AKG have shared a long-running passion for quality sound and the infinite power music has to connect people and touch lives,” said Dinesh C. Paliwal, chairman, president and CEO, HARMAN International. “We have partnered to introduce products into the marketplace that shine a light on how important sound quality is when you’re experiencing music in all aspects of your life.”
A share of the proceeds from every set of headphones sold in the Quincy Jones Signature Line by AKG will go toward the Quincy Jones Musiq Consortium, a foundation dedicated to making music education an ongoing part of the lives of American children.

No Batteries, Charges In 60 SECONDS!!! 5.11’s Light for Life Flashlights revolutionize the industry
In 2009, Law Enforcement, Military and Fire/EMS supplier 5.11 Tactical introduced the tough Light for Lifeä UC3.400ä Flashlight. With no batteries and an amazingly short 90-second charge time, the flashlight changed the lighting industry overnight. Not only did the Light for Lifeä generate major internet buzz, Popular Science magazine named the Light for Lifeä UC3.400ä Flashlight a Pick of the Month for July 2009.
5.11 just introduced the next illuminating member of its lighting family: the Light for Life PC3.300 Flashlight. The mid-size Light for Life PC3.300 is powered by advanced capacitors using battery-free Flashpointä Power Technology. 5.11 rates the Light for Lifeä PC3.300 for 50,000 charge/discharge cycles with virtually no degradation or memory issues. That’s one charge a day for 135 years! “With its innovative technology, the Light for Life changes everything,” says 5.11 Tacticalä CEO Dan Costa. “We’ve seen an incredible response across the industry.”
Made more compact for duty and civilian use, the mid-size PC3.300 is not short on light using three Cree LEDs rated for more than 50,000 hours each. The PC3.300 produces 200 lumens at peak output, 70 lumens in standard mode and includes a 70-lumen strobe. From a full charge you get 45 minutes of runtime in standard mode, then 15 minutes on reserve mode, starting at 25 lumens. Once the flashlight discharges, place it in the charger
The solid-state, 8.5” Light for Life PC3.300ä is ruggedly built and water-resistant. Its firearm-grade, high-strength polymer casing is abrasion, crack and bend-resistant. It is also lightweight. At just 10 oz., the compact Light for Lifeä PC3.300ä fits well on a duty belt and doesn’t weigh you down, even after a full day of wear. “When I get called out in the middle of the night, I need a dependable light that’s going to be charged and ready to go,” says Lieutenant Ed Ormonde of Ripon Police Department in Ripon, California. “The 5.11 Light for Life provides superior light intensity and with the assurance that it will be ready for use when I need it.”

Bell & Ross. The OFFICIAL Watches Of AutoSpies.com
NEW: BR 123 & BR 126 OFFICER
Latest additions to the VINTAGE COLLECTION
Bell & Ross has designed the VINTAGE COLLECTION as an homage to the aviators of the 1940’s, who were the first professionals to use the wristwatch as a tool on their missions.
The brightly polished, luxurious contours of the new VINTAGE OFFICER watches give these professional instruments an elegant appearance. Their impeccable finish is a reminder that attention is paid to every detail when producing exceptional watches.
A VINTAGE watch
The watches in the Bell & Ross VINTAGE COLLECTION share the same characteristics, particulary their inspiration, shape and movement:
• The traditional shape of the round case is reminiscent of period wristwatches while its ergonomic design is compatible with the comfort expected by modern wearers.
• The domed crystal recalls the crystals of the 1940’s. Unlike the original, however, it is produced using extremely strong sapphire as a result of improved production techniques.
• A choice of two quality Swiss movements: an hours, minutes and seconds version (BR 123) and a chronograph version (BR 126).

STEVE McQUEEN:
THE LIFE AND LEGEND OF A HOLLYWOOD ICON
By Marshall Terrill
The Man. The Legend. “The King of Cool.” For decades, Steve McQueen has captured our hearts and imaginations. Now Marshall Terrill, the star’s preeminent biographer, reveals the true life of the man in Steve McQueen: The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon. Behind the scenes, McQueen was perhaps the world’s most insecure and contradictory hero.
In Steve McQueen: The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon Terrill unearths many never-before-told stories about the acting legend (particularly about McQueen’s early life) in this highly entertaining new biography, including:
¨ McQueen's genealogy, which is traced back to his great-great grandfather, Pike Montgomery Thomson, a Confederate Army officer
¨ First-hand accounts of McQueen's history in Slater, Missouri, his boyhood home
¨ New information and photos on McQueen's father, William, who Terrill has recently discovered was not a barnstorming pilot but a grunt in the Merchant Marines. Terrill also reveals William died of cirrhosis of the liver and is buried in an unmarked grave in California
¨ A first-time interview with Teri McQueen, the actor’s 70-year-old half-sister who is breaking her silence about her famous sibling
¨ An in-depth look at McQueen's fourteen-month stint at the Boys Republic in Chino, California, a reform school for delinquent youth and his three years in the Marines
¨ Detailed information about his three marriages to wives Neile Adams, Ali MacGraw and Barbara Minty
¨ McQueen’s unprecedented reign as cinema’s “King of Cool” and the behind-the-scenes of classic films such as The Great Escape, The Sand Pebbles, The Thomas Crown Affair, Bullitt, Le Mans, The Getaway,Papillon and The Towering Inferno
¨ McQueen's go-go Hollywood lifestyle, which included sexual trysts with actresses, groupies, professional party dolls, housewives, hitchhikers and fans, who were all fair game
¨ How Charles Manson and his band of hippy followers marked McQueen for death after the Tate-LaBianca murders
¨ A relationship with actress Barbara Leigh, McQueen's co-star in Junior Bonner, who aborted his child after a six-month affair
¨ The 12-inch thick dossier of career-ending information producer Robert Evans compiled on McQueen and threatened to use when McQueen wanted to adopt his son
¨ A 45-minute recording of McQueen on his deathbed, going over the details of his life with New Age spiritualist Brugh Joy
¨ How a Mexican funeral home owner and a police captain conspired to hold McQueen’s dead body ransom for $160,000
¨ McQueen's last will and testament, which shows how the superstar divvied up his multi-million dollar estate
¨ McQueen’s lasting legacy in Hollywood as the industry’s most emulated actor
Featuring hundreds of interviews and exhaustive research, Terrill reveals shocking new details about the star’s life from his harrowing and painful childhood, throughout his incredible career, to the final days of his battle with cancer. Scrupulously researched and beautifully written, Steve McQueen: The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon is an indispensable biography of a beloved star.
About the Author:
Marshall Terrill is the world’s foremost expert on Steve McQueen. Author of the best-selling Steve McQueen: Portrait of an American Rebel, he has written or co-written biographies on McQueen, Elvis Presley, Pete Maravich, Ken Norton, and Edd Byrnes, among others.
