Donald Trump Explains Why He's Offering $5 Million For Obama's Records

It sounds like the plot of a B movie Bond rip-off. On Wednesday at noon, Donald Trump posted a YouTube video making President Obama an offer he can’t refuse, to use a cliche not far removed from the real estate mogul’s own words.
The billionaire birther has given the President a week to produce his college records and passport applications in return for a $5 million donation to the charity of Obama’s choice. Trump has long claimed the American public knows little of the President’s background and says this move will put the issue to rest.

Trump denied his Obama ultimatum is in any way self-serving, nor intended to generate publicity for himself or the upcoming season of his NBC show Celebrity Apprentice.
“This should be seen as a positive for Obama,” Trump told us. “There’s a huge cloud hanging over this presidency. This could be solved in a positive and easy manner.”
Trump was less forthcoming when asked why he didn’t take the traditional route of the super-rich and donate his $5 million to one of the many right-leaning super PACs propping up Mitt Romney’s election bid.
He hasn’t given any money to Romney-backing super PAC Restore Our Future. To date, 38 other billionaires have. He has, however, co-hosted and attended fundraisers for the GOP hopeful.
(A Trump Organization insider confirmed to Forbes that Trump, who is worth $3.1 billion, has indeed given money to conservative groups this election cycle, but that he’s chosen to give via tax-exempt nonprofits that don’t disclose donors.)
Trump has yet to hear from the White House, but hopes President Obama’s team responds in the affirmative. “I’ll be extremely happy to write this check,” he said. “Except you’ll have to knock $5 million off my net worth.”

Politics : 50 Reasons Why It's Stupid To Continue To Doubt Obama's Birth or His Education

Can you believe it?  President Obama released the long form birth certificate  yesterday morning, and it isn't over. There still people who don't believe the released birth certificate is real.  Apparently if you have Adobe Acrobat and look at the PDF of the long form certificate and right click, with your left foot off the ground, while chewing on a Ritz Cracker and whistling the theme song from the old Barney Miller TV show, the birth certificate will reveal that the real Paul McCartney was killed in a car accent in 1968 and for the past 43 years we have been rocking to Wayne Newton's unknown brother Fig.

Of course, Donald Trump took all the credit, “I am really honored and I am really proud, that I was able to do something that nobody else could do,” Of course he forgot to mention the fact that two days before he told Anderson Cooper that a believable source who he could not name told him that the birth certificate was missing. I guess it got "un-missing" Mr. Trump.

And like the person who wins the lottery but complains that his take was only a few hundred million Trump isn't done. In his next breath, Trump declared that Obama needs to release his Occidental College school records, to dispel rumors that he was a bad student who did not deserve a transfer to Columbia University,or his acceptance to  Harvard Law School.
“How do you get into Harvard if you are not a good student?” Trump said. “I don’t know why he doesn’t release his records.”
Oh Puleeze.  Who Gives a flying Frisbee!

This nonsense is a losing issue that will do nothing but alienate the moderate voters who are needed to beat Obama in the 2012 election.  That is the objective--Nobama!

But I want everyone to know that I can compromise, I am willing to join the side of the tin-foil hat crowd, but only after we are done bashing the president on the following real issues (in no particular order) which have a much more urgent priority:

  1. Obamacare
  2. Drill Here Drill Now
  3. High Taxes
  4. High Deficit
  5. Gun Control
  6. Unemployment
  7. China our arses
  8. Oil Prices are too high
  9. Lousy Relationship With Europe
  10. Appeasing Terrorists

  13. Enforcing the Law against ACORN
  14. Enforcing the Law against CAIR
  15. The Pigford Scandal
  16. Favoring Muslims Over Christians and Jews
  17. The Stupid War in Libya
  18. Leading From the Back
  19. Energy Taxes
  20. Giving Money To Brazil To Drill For Oil
  21. Treating Our Ally Israel Like a Rogue Nation
  22. Federal Funding For Abortion
  23. Ending Subsidies for Big Oil
  24. Not Ending Subsidies For Electric Cars
  25. Not Ending Subsidies For Farmers Who Don't Farm
  26. Not Ending Subsidies For Ethanol
  27. The Wasteful Stimulus Bill
  28. Cap and Trade
  29. The EPA's Regulation of Exhaling (CO2)
  30. The FCC's Attempt to Take Over The Internet
  31. Favoring Unions over The General Public
  32. Getting Involved With Local (Wisconsin) Issues
  33. Telling a Guy With 10 Kids To Buy a New Fuel Efficient Car And Then Using Air Force One to Fly to Chicago (on our dime) Simply to Appear on Oprah
  34. Forcing All Stimulus Construction Contracts to be Granted to Union Shops or to Shops That Raise Their Wages/Benefits to a Union Level Even Though Only 14% of Construction Companies Are Union--Causing a 20% Increase In The Cost To The American Public
  35. Being the Most Divisive "Unifying" President in the HistoryT of America
  36. Lying About His Health Plan Not Forcing People To Change Insurance Providers
  37. Lying About His Promise For A Transparent Presidency
  38. Having Different Rules for Syria and Libya
  39. Announcing The War On Libya and Instead of Staying In Washington to Show Support for the Troops in Harm's Way, running off to Brazil With Your Family Before The Ink Was Dry on The Orders
  40. Not Meeting With General McChrystal When He 'Was Formulating Strategy in Afghanistan, But Hosting Richard Trumka Over and Over
  41. QE 2
  42. The Auto Bailout
  43. Your Half of the Banking Bailout
  44. Ignoring the BP Disaster for the First Two Months
  45. Refusing The Offers of Allies to Help With The BP Disaster Until The Public Complained
  46. Going Against Honduras When They Tossed Their President, Even Though Honduras was Following Their Constitution.
  47. John Holdren, Science Czar
  48. Cash For Clunkers
  49. Trying to Intimidate Insurance Companies When They Told The Truth About Obamacare
  50. Bashing The Chamber of Commerce For Exercising Their Right to Free Speech While Being Silent About Government Unions Spending As Much or More on Campaign Donations as the Chamber
These are the first fifty that come to mind, given the time I could come up with another 50 at least (I thought of another ten in the two minutes since I stopped listing), but it is getting close to dinner and I am pretty hungry.

The point is that some of the above are very important, some are not so important, but all of them are more important than the birther, education or any of the tin foil hat issues.  All of them are more likely to sway voters away from supporting Obama than the tin foil hat issues.

So if you don't believe that the birth certificate is real, or you think he lied about his education fine. But realize that what you are really saying is that you do not want Barack Obama to be President. The best way to make that happen is to pick out one of the real issues above, or the other fifty real issues that come to mind, anything but these silly distractions.

I understand that you may believe that this is an issue of constitutionality, honesty, morality or even chastity but we need to keep our eyes on the believable issues to win the real prize, a new President in 2012.

UPDATE: Some people are claiming that the fact that you can take today's birth certificate and split it into layers using Adobe Photoshop or Acrobat means its fake.

Politics : Why Trump would be a disaster

I
was going to append “as a candidate”, then “as President”, etc.  But I realized that “as a candidate” he’d never reach the presidency .  His mouth would never give him the opportunity.  And should he somehow (hey, Obama did it) reach the presidency, it would be an unmitigated disaster.  The fact that in some polls he is running a “strong second” among GOP supporters says more about the rest of the GOP presidential field than it does about the validity of a Trump candidacy.
Why would he be a disaster?  Because, for the most part, he’s an ignorant loudmouth who doesn’t think his way through anything. He blurts half formed ideas.  Here’s an example where he is talking about OPEC:
Trump: Look at what’s going on with your gasoline prices. They’re going to go to $5, $6, $7 and we don’t have anybody in Washington that calls OPEC and says, "Fellas, it’s time.  It’s over.  You’re not going to do it anymore."  I don’t know if you saw yesterday, Saudi Arabia came out and said very strongly there’s plenty of oil.  "We’re going to cut back."  You know what cutting back means?  They’re going to drive up the price even further.
Stephanopoulos: So, what would you do to back up that threat?
Trump: Oh, it’s so easy George.  It’s so easy.  It’s all about the messenger.  They wouldn’t even be there if it wasn’t for us.  If it weren’t for us, they wouldn’t be there.  These 12 guys sit around a table and they say, "Let’s just screw the United States."  And frankly, the rest of the world.
…
Stephanopoulos: And so finish this sentence.  "If you don’t produce more oil…"
Trump: Look. I’m going to look ‘em in the eye and say, "Fellas, you’ve had your fun.  Your fun is over."
Wow.  That’ll have ‘em shivering in their boots.  Of course the fact that we import the vast majority of our oil and still haven’t taken the steps necessary to exploit our own resources is the real reason we’re in that shape and at the mercy of cartels like OPEC.  But he doesn’t address that.  Instead his idea is to be confrontational and threatening.
I think everyone who reads this blog realizes that there’s plenty of oil and natural gas out there to keep using it as fuel for the foreseeable future.  It’s about where it is, not how much there is anymore.   And as long as the majority of that oil remains in the control of the OPEC cartel, we can “look ‘em in the eye” till doomsday and it won’t accomplish a thing.   Not unless we’re willing to do the unthinkable and take over their oil fields.
Oh?  Well that would be perfectly fine with President Trump:
Trump: George, let me explain something to you.  We go into Iraq.  We have spent thus far, $1.5 trillion.  We could have rebuilt half of the United States.  $1.5 trillion.  And we’re going to then leave.  So, in the old days, you know when you had a war, to the victor belong the spoils.  You go in.  You win the war and you take it.
…
Stephanopoulos: It would take hundreds of thousands of troops to secure the oil fields.
Trump: Excuse me.  No, it wouldn’t at all.
…
Stephanopoulos: So, we steal an oil field?
Trump: Excuse me.  You’re not stealing.  Excuse me.  You’re not stealing anything.  You’re taking– we’re reimbursing ourselves– at least, at a minimum, and I say more.  We’re taking back $1.5 trillion to reimburse ourselves.
We’re going to reimburse ourselves for doing something we chose to do?   Hey, would the same thing apply to Libya?  And how do we “reimburse” ourselves for Afghanistan – get in the opium trade?
This guy is entertaining as hell, and we all may appreciate and enjoy his willingness to say things out loud a lot of us think about certain issues and situations (like turning to the Ron Paul supporters at CPAC and saying, “you know your guy can’t win).    But he’s serious about this nonsense above and you have to understand that and understand what that means.  He’s as naïve about foreign affairs as is the present occupant in the White House.  The problem with Trump is he’s not only naïve, he’s confrontational by nature.   He’s the other side of the same coin as Obama when it comes to foreign affairs and we would find ourselves neck deep in conflict if the guy ever got within sniffing range of the Oval office.

Sports : Donald Trump wants to buy the Mets

The New York Mets are in dire financial crisis, so it only makes sense that a man who has been on the verge of bankruptcy several times in his life has offered to buy them. Donald Trump, real estate mogul and CEO of the Trump organization, has expressed his interest in the team, more or less because Fred Wilpon, the Mets principal owner is a personal friend.Donald Trump Donald Trump wants to buy the Mets
Yea, this sounds like a terrific idea all around. A team that’s in shambles because a ponzi schemer took them for all their worth is going to get bought by a guy whose sole redeeming quality right now is encompassed by two words….”You’re fired!”.
“We’ll see what happens,” said Trump, who previously owned the New Jersey Generals in the United States Football League, and who was a frequent guest of George Steinbrenner at Yankee Stadium.
“It’s going to take a long time for [the Mets] to work out the situation,” said Trump, who added he would be willing to sell any interests he has in Atlantic City casinos to satisfy baseball’s prohibition of team owners running gambling houses.
Trump said he would not necessarily insist on owning a majority stake in the team, but he noted, “My history is I control things.”
Trump seems to have a loyalty problem here as well. He’s been known to take in a Yankees game or two during the baseball season and was seen in the New England Patriots box during the playoffs. This commingling between Boston and New York teams almost seems like sports sacrilege.
The only good thing that can come out of this? The Donald’s hair may make more repeated appearances on TV. We’re all winners if that’s the case.
