Car Porn : Mercedes-Benz celebrates 2m YouTube views with C63 AMG drift

[VIDEO] Mercedes-Benz celebrates 2m YouTube views with C63 AMG drift

The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz has chosen a unique way to celebrate the 2 million YouTube views with the new C63 AMG drifting at Laguna Seca track.
Mercedes-Benz is saying “thanks” to its fans for the 2 million YouTube views and what better way to celebrate the impressive video views than by releasing a new material with one of the hottest rides of the company. The all-new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG has been chosen by the car manufacturer in order to celebrate the 2 million YouTube views and the powerful coupe can be seen hitting the Laguna Seca track and drifting for its fans.
As a small reminder, the all-new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is coming with the same transmission found on the SL63 AMG, which is replacing the 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. The coupe is also fitted with twin-spoke AMG light alloy wheels painted in titanium grey and wrapped in 235/40/R18 tires (front) and 255/35R18 (rear). The AMG Performance package is raising the engine power to 480 HP at 6,800 rpm and 600 Nm of torque (443 lb-ft) available at 5,000 rpm. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes just 4.4 seconds. The Coupe went on sale in July 2011, as well as the Sedan and the Estate.

Rides : AMG Driving Academy publishes ten-part driving course on YouTube

AMG Performance Series

Having the means to buy a performance automobile does not automatically come with the ability to drive it well. Few are as keenly aware of this correlation (or lack thereof) than Mercedes-Benz and its performance arm, AMG.

In addition to building some of the most capable performance cars on the market, AMG also operates the AMG Driving Academy at locations around the world to show its customers how to get the most out of their cars.

Courses ranges in price from $1,595 for a one-day 'Basic Training' class to $3,695 for a three-day comprehensive 'Pro Training' course. To give us a taste (and then some) of what's on offer, AMG has released a ten-part video series on YouTube covering the basic elements of what a driver needs to know, everything from proper seat adjustment to how to drift.

The series is hosted by experienced racer, television presenter and instructor Tommy Kendall, and it's worth taking the time to watch. Each segment is only three or four minutes long and can be found after the jump. Watch them, and you're sure to learn a thing or two. AMG is also giving away a free day at the academy for you and three friends on its Facebook page.

Presss Release

Participating in the prestigious Mercedes-Benz AMG Driving Academy has never been easier with the release of the new "AMG Performance Series Videos" and the opportunity to win a trip to participate in the one-day intensive Basic Course at the Academy. Ten instructional videos, hosted by professional racecar driver and AMG Driving Academy instructor Tommy Kendall, are available on the Mercedes-Benz USA Facebook page (http://on.fb.me/dWQthT) and YouTube. Through September 15, 2011 on the Mercedes-Benz USA Facebook page, people can enter for a chance to win a trip for four to Laguna Seca.

Produced at the legendary Lime Rock Park in Connecticut, the ten-part video series covers many of the same racing techniques taught at the AMG Driving Academy. Four-time Trans-Am Series champion Tommy Kendall narrates the video series and with the help of other expert drivers, demonstrates a wide range of performance driving techniques. Starting with basic seating position, drivers at home will have the opportunity to experience a series of 'classroom sessions' aimed at honing driver skills. At the conclusion of the video series, viewers will have a basic understanding of the 'race craft' techniques used by professional drivers.

The AMG Driving Academy, offered at Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca and Lime Rock Park, comes in three varieties:

- 'Basic Training,' a one-day intensive program that costs $1,595. Remaining programs in 2011 are available at Laguna Seca in September (27), October (6, 7, 9, 20, 21, 22), November (8, 9) and December (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7).
- 'Advanced Training,' a two day program that costs $2,995.
- 'Pro Training,' a comprehensive three day program that costs $3,695. One program remains in 2011; Laguna Seca on October 10-12.

Each participant is given the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a large selection of AMG vehicles, including the E63 AMG, SL63 AMG, C63 AMG, SLK55 AMG and, the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz product lineup, the 563 hp SLS AMG.

A description of the Academy program including levels and preliminary schedules can be found at The AMG Driving Academy web site www.amgacademy.com.

Internet : Google Discusses Broadcasting Live NBA, NHL Games on YouTube

nba game Last year, when YouTube broadcast an Indian Premier League Cricket tournament, rumors began to circulate about Google's plans to show more live sporting events on the video site. Now Google, the NBA and the NHL are discussing a plan to broadcast entire live games on YouTube -- possibly as soon as this fall or winter, according to Bloomberg News. Clearly, Google wants to broadcast live sports on YouTube because advertisers are more likely to spend money if viewers are spending more time on the site. "It's fair to say that there will be a lot more appealing sports content you'll see on YouTube," Gautam Anand, Google's director of content partnerships for Asia Pacific, recently told reporters. Anand wouldn't reveal any specific details about the company's talks with the NBA, NHL or any other pro sports leagues. But Brian Suh, YouTube's partnership head at Google in Korea, confirmed the talks by saying the company was in negotiations with "most pro sports leagues," which we'd think would mean some European soccer leagues, too. (Sorry, NFL fans, but don't expect the league to share any of its broadcasting rights)

Obama to Take Questions on YouTube, Twitter, After State of the Union

barack obamaThis Thursday, President Obama will field questions submitted from the world of social media during a live-streamed YouTube interview. Any inquisitive Web surfer can send their questions to the President at youtube.com/askobama, or via Twitter, by using the #askobama hashtag. Obama will answer the top-rated questions when the interview kicks off at 2:30 p.m. EST, just two days after his State of the Union speech (which, incidentally, will also be live-streamed on YouTube).

If you're interested in picking the POTUS's brain, you'll have to send in your question by midnight, January 25th, and you'll have to be concise. The White House says each question "should be about 20 seconds long," so start truncating your list of earthly concerns.
