Rides : Dubai Police add Bugatti Veyron to fleet

Dubai Police Bugatti Veyron

Well, now it's official: Nobody in Dubai is going to be able to outrun the police. You see, in addition to the Aston Martin One-77, Ferrari FF and Lamborghini Aventador that were already part of its stable of police cars, the constabulary in Dubai have most recently procured a Bugatti Veyron to add to the force. And, since the Veyron is the fastest production vehicle in the world, it'd take something truly special to evade the long arm of the law.

The image you see above was tweeted by Dubai's Chief of Police, and as you can see, it's painted up in the green and white hues we've come to expect from its ilk. We do have to wonder, though, if they drilled holes in the Bugatti's roof for the light bar or if it's held on by suction cups or something else less likely to damage the delicate carbon fiber bodywork...

Rides : Check Out Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse in Action

Bugatti has released a promotional video of the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, a car that debuted back in March during the Geneva Motor Show. It can be considered as a combination between the Grand Sport and the Super Sport versions of the Veyron because it gets the body structure of the former and the performance and visuals of the latter.
While the aforementioned Grand Sport produces 987 hp (736 kW) and 922 lb-ft (1250 Nm) of torque, the Vitesse is capable of outputting no less than 1184 hp (883 kW) and a peak torque of 1106 lb-ft (1500 Nm). To receive the added horsepower, Bugatti fitted the Vitesse’s 16-cylinder engine with four enlarged turbos and intercoolers, while to match that extra power they also tweaked the chassis.
Thanks to these modifications, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse is capable of sprinting to 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 2.6 seconds and can hit a top speed of 254.76 mph (410 km/h).

Top speed of 254 mph.

Rides : Bugatti looking into hybrid tech for next-gen Veyron?

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport - silver - dead-on overhead studio view

Fast. Powerful. Opulent. There are any number of descriptors one could use to describe the Bugatti Veyron. But along with them is "heavy" – including heavy on fuel consumption. That's just the way it goes when you're dealing with a sixteen-cylinder, quad-turbo beast of a supercar. But that could change, if the latest output from the rumormill proves accurate.

According to a report from Auto Express, Bugatti is keen to improve its image in the eyes of a tree-hugging world, so it is looking at ways to make the successor to the Veyron more fuel efficient. One way would be to make the car lighter, something that shouldn't be all that difficult considering that the current model weighs in at over 4,000 pounds. One such method of trimming the fat reportedly revolves around carbon-fiber wheels, something that's been done before but far from widely adopted.

At the other end of the spectrum, Bugatti is also reportedly evaluating the prospect of hybrid propulsion – something that would not reduce weight but could help fuel consumption figures while keeping the power up. If the Molsheim automaker were to go that route, we'd expect something closer to what Ferrari is working on for the Enzo successor than an upmarket Toyota Prius.

AE also predicts that the next-generation Veyron will carry on the name rather than switch to another nameplate. One way or another, it will likely join the upcoming Galibier sedan a few years down the line, thereby expanding the marque's range from one model line to two.

Car Porn : Arizona police upset over viral video of high-speed Bugatti

A video surfaced on YouTube last week that purported to show a Bugatti Veyron being driven at near top speed on public roads. Mind you, "near top speed" for a Veyron still means well above 200 miles per hour. The YouTube account owner who uploaded the video claims that the car made seven runs and reached speeds in the range of 215-225 mph. That's well short of 253 mph, the Bug's terminal velocity in Top Speed mode, but the Veyron was reportedly left in Handling Mode to accommodate the public road's uneven surface.

The video has attracted over 1,200,000 views after just one week on YouTube, and at least one of those views was the authorities in Arizona. Despite text in the video claiming that the high speed runs were shot "south of the border," police in Arizona were still none too thrilled with what Arizona Department of Public Spokesman Bart Graves called "a criminal act." The act in question is said to have occurred in late 2009, and since the driver's identity is never fully revealed, there's not much the authorities are likely going to do about it now. There's also no know way to know for certain where the video was shot, though Arizona police say the driver would be thrown in jail if he were caught trying to repeat the act in their jurisdiction.

The ironic thing is that the police did apparently have an opportunity to bust the driver, though they didn't know it at the time. The end of the video shows the Veyron pulled over on the side of the road by the Arizona Highway Patrol, but the video's description claims the driver wasn't cited because he was only going 80 mph at the time and the "officer stopped the car to take a look at it."

Rides : Check Out This '92 Honda Civic, thinks its a Veyron

Honda Civic Veyron edition

Dressing up budget hatchbacks to appear to be something more than they are seems to be all the rage these days. Toyota iQ becomes Aston Martin Cygnet. Mini Cooper becomes the Rolls-Royce-inspired Goodwood edition. Even the Fiat 500 has had its Tributo Ferrari. But while most of these kinda make our eyes roll a little (or a lot), this latest privateer entry into their ranks just makes us chuckle.

Someone, it seems, took a fifth-generation (1992-95) Honda Civic hatchback and dressed it up to look like a mini-me Bugatti Veyron, complete with two-tone Rape Yellow and black paint job. And you know what? It doesn't look half bad.

Sure, the wheels don't match, and yes, it is downright comical to dress up a car that should barely sell for more than $2,000 to look like one that costs over a million. But while it may be missing a few cylinders – make that a few cylinder banks, and the quad turbos – it manages to tickle our funny bone in a way few other gussied-up premium hatchbacks can.

Rides : Check Out The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Red Edition

[VIDEO] Frankfurt: Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Red Edition revealed

The newest model in Bugatti’s supercar division lineup, the Grand Sport, doesn’t seem to be a success and while its older brother, the Super Sport, was a huge hit with its incredible top speed and acceleration time, this one managed to sell just 42 units out if the 150 available.
In a disparate move to attract the rest of the 108 customers to its Grand Sport, Bugatti decided to release a Red Edition at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which is actually nothing more than a new paint scheme on the same body with the same performance.
As a reminder, the Veyron Grand Sport, the world’s fastest convertible, is powered by an 8.0 liter W16 engine which is delivering 1.001 horsepower, pushing the supercar to a top speed of 407 km/h with its roof on, while as a cabrio, the top speed is limited to “only” 360 km/h.
If you chose to ride in it as a convertible, the solid roof must be left at home, but if rain starts, a soft-top is also available but it limits the supercar’s top speed to 130 km/h.
The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport is priced at 1.4 million euros and as we said before only 150 units have been made and the automaker managed to sell only 42 of them.

Rides : Bugatti testing hotter Veyron Grand Sport SS

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport SS spy shots

Just how much sport can you dial in to the Bugatti Veyron? It looks like we're about to find out.

In one corner we have the Veyron Grand Sport, the targa-roofed roadster of the epic supercar. In the other, the Veyron Super Sport, the even more powerful version that claims the record for the fastest production automobile. Where they meet is what we anticipated just last week, and could be what we see in this fresh batch of spy shots: the Bugatti Veyron Grand Super Sport. Or Super Grand Sport. Or Super-Duper Sport.

We'll have to wait to find out what it'll be called, but we're expecting output from the quad-turbo, sixteen-cylinder engine to come in somewhere in between the Grand Sport's 1,000 and the Super Sport's 1,200. If you didn't need a toupée before, you probably will after unleashing that much power on your bare scalp.

Rides : Red chrome Bugatti Veyron

[VIDEO] Red chrome Bugatti Veyron

World’s fastest production car, Bugatti Veyron, keeps rich people’s mind busy and the investment in the model has numerous possibilities.
After a fully silver chrome McLaren Mercedes SLR was surprised on the streets of London not long before, another chrome supercar was made, using the red colour this time.
The Russian tuner Dartz has presented its red chrome-covered Bugatti Veyron somewhere in the south of France.
The matte black cars fashion is almost gone, as proven by tuners and rich sheiks all over the world, with the almost common chrome vehicles, appearing almost everyday.
If the Bugatty Veyron presented in this video is just a kitch, an interesting car or super idea, remains to your decision, but a question was just born: Would you chrome your car if you would afford it?
Meanwhile sit back and watch this video below of the Bugatti Veyron red chromed car filmed in the south of France.

Rides : Cheapest Bugatti Veyron for sale, just 89.000 dollars

Cheapest Bugatti Veyron for sale, just 89.000 dollars

The cheapest Bugatty Veyron in the world is on sale online with only 89.000 US dollars. And the main fact actually reveals a replica of the German supercar.
Exclusivity is everything for a class of people and the high expectations should be maintained by any cost. This is what this article is all about. Or about the fact the fanatism has no limits.
A 25 year old American is selling his replica of the famous Bugatti Veyron which he build from scratch, being based on a Ford Cougar. The price asked for the car is 89.000 US dollars, five times more than what the original “donor” use to worth.
Equipped with a 2.5 litre V6, the engine “walked” for more than 193.000 km and it is three time slower than the original Veyron at the 0 to 100 km/h sprint.
According to the owner, the transmission and wheelbase is standard Ford Cougar. The 25 year old American fitted his replica with a climate system, electric windows, central locking, while the audio system remains standard. The interior design is also inspired by a Veyron, with aluminum inserts.
A second-hand Bugatti Veyron costs more than 10 times compared to this replica so until you can call it a kitch or a masterpiece we will wish the owner “Good luck!” in selling it.

Rides : McLaren “Mega Mac” Prepares for an Assault on the Bugatti Veyron in 2014

The McLaren has gone up against the Bugatti Veyron before, during an episode of Top Gear. The 627 horsepower McLaren F1 lined up against the 1,001 horsepower Veyron, and while its light frame pulled off the line slightly quicker, the final result of the quarter mile proved Bugatti the clear winner.
On March 31st, 1998, The McLaren F1 became the fastest road car in the world, at 240 mph. Since then, the Bugatti Veyron has set the new benchmark at 268 mph. Fueled by the desire to regain their domination, the McLaren team has been busy crunching numbers and schematics in the hopes of recreating the perfect balance between minimal weight and non-asperated horsepower. All this effort has accumulated into their newest halo car, the Mega Mac.
The BMW sourced 6.1-liter powerplant (627 horsepower) which powered past F1′s, will now be replaced by a 5.0-liter V-8, producing around 799 horsepower and 599 lb-ft of torque. This new found grunt combined with the McLaren’s lightweight carbon fiber chassis, hydraulic anti-roll/adaptive dampers, 5-stage traction control, and improved aerodynamics, should put it in the neighborhood of 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, 0-100 in 5.5 seconds, and 0-200 in 20 seconds (the Bugatti hits 200 is 22 seconds).
According to the British magazine, Autocar, the Mega Mac will resemble the past F1 and current MP4-12, but will be “bigger, angrier, and more functional”. Its specs will include a Graziano 7-speed dual clutch transmission, Brembo (carbon ceramic) brakes, rear air brakes, and an active rear and front spoiler (deployed on demand). Autocar estimates only 500 of these production models will make it into existence in 2014 at roughly $650,000 US.
Rest assured, the Bugatti Veyron will not be lying around occupying itself with Oprah re-runs for the next two years, so we should be looking at one hell of a rematch.

Rides : Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport sold out! Another year on the waiting list for Craig Mills

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport sold out! Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport
It appears that the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport was quite a success as several sources confirmed the fact that the fastest car in the world is already sold out. For those who don’t know, the Bugatti built only 30 units of the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, each carrying an estimated base price of $2.3 million. The first five units are known as the World Record Edition, and these cars were already sold out when the car has been launched.
So, what do you get for all that amount of money? First of all you get the impressive design of a supercar, then an 8-liter W16 engine mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox capable to deliver 1200 hp (882 kW) and a maximum torque of 1,500 Nm of torque.
Still, you will also get an impressive top speed of 415 km/h (257 mph), limited electronically in order to protect the tyres. Back in June, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved a new landspeed world record for production cars with an average speed of 431 km/h (268 mph). So, if you still want to buy a Bugatti Veyron you should go for the Grand Sport. It is a bit slower (360 km/h or 223 mph in the convertible form), but you will still make quite an entrance with this car at any exclusive party!

Rides : Faster Than 200 MPH Six of the flat-out fastest automobiles available in North America right now.

Whether you're behind the wheel of an outrageous sports car this holiday season or, like most of us, find yourself sprinting to find the shortest check-out aisle, chances are good you'll come to appreciate the importance of having the quickest top speed. Like little kids drawn to a toy store's display window, car enthusiasts of all ages are always drawn to the sparkling sheet metal and snarling engines of the world's fastest cars.

For this first round of flat-out speed demons, we've drawn up a list of the six fastest cars sold in North America. The rules are few, which seems only right when discussing cars built to breach 200 mph. All have to be street-legal, sold in the U.S., and available from a mainstream manufacturer. This meant excluding some pretty amazing vehicles, like the Hennessey Venom GT and Callaway SC606, along with exciting upstarts like the German-built Gumpert Apollo supercar. We'll get to these, and more, in a future story.

Choosing a winner was easy, since nothing short of a jet fighter delivers the performance of the top-speed champion in this list. Yet, more amazing is the fact that almost all the cars listed could be driven on a daily basis ñ even if doing so would probably make you the most generous contributor to your local Police Athletic League.

2011 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport - 268 mph

Bugatti Veyron
Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

You can do a lot of things with $10,075. But if you want to own the $2.7 million Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, currently the fastest car in the world, that's about the price you'll pay for every mile-per-hour the car is capable of. The Veyron's astounding price tag is matched only by its outrageous top speed, a fully-documented and verified 268 mph. The 1,200-hp French-built Bugatti set the new standard in supercar bragging rights last summer, at the sprawling Ehra-Lessien test facility owned by the firm's parent company, Volkswagen. The Veyron Super Sport features larger turbochargers and intercoolers fitted to the quad-turbo W-16 engine. Additional bracing, extra cooling ducts and special aerodynamics are fitted to the Super Sport, so that safety and stability are not sacrificed for top speed.

2011 Ferrari 599 GTO - 208 mph

Ferrari 599GTO
Ferrari 599GTO

Any Ferrari is special, but not all can exceed 208 mph - and even fewer wear the brand's fabled GTO badge. The name was made famous by the original and stunningly beautiful 250 GTO, built from 1962-1964. When one comes up for auction, an original GTO is guaranteed to sell for millions of dollars. So consider the $450,000 you'll pay for the new 2011 Ferrari 599GTO a veritable bargain - at least compared to its classic predecessor. The new model's 661-hp 6-liter V-12 makes the 599 GTO the most powerful road-going Ferrari ever. Give it enough open road and the 599 GTO should exceed 208 mph, according to Ferrari. Being an Italian supercar, it looks quick even when standing still. Based on the 599 GTB, the GTO is 220 pounds lighter, thanks to the use of lightweight materials, including thinner glass than the standard car.

2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS - 205 mph

Porsche 911 GT2 RS
Porsche 911 GT2 RS

There is a reason Porsche has kept itself busy for nearly five decades refining the 911 sports car. Each new model is packed with more performance, and the latest pinnacle is this, the 911 GT2 RS. This is the most powerful road-going Porsche ever built. The 620-hp 3.6-liter twin-turbo flat-6 engine has variable turbine geometry (VTG) and sends all of its power to the rear wheels. Forget the four-wheel-drive safety net of the 911 Turbo, the GT2 RS is as close as you can get to a racing Porsche that can be also used for a dash to the local mall. According to Porsche's statistics, which are routinely on the conservative side, the GT2 RS can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph. You better move fast, since only 135 copies of the GT2 RS, priced at $245,000, are headed to the U.S.

2011 Corvette ZR1 - 205 mph

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

The $110,750 Corvette ZR1 is the cheapest way to break into the 200-mph club. In the case of this snarling Chevy coupe, that would be an official top speed of 205 mph. Don't be fooled by an exterior that appears similar to the standard 430-hp Corvette. Under the ZR1's skin beats the heart of a 638-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. The wild motor is visible to passersby, thanks to a clear hood scoop that announces exactly how potent this 'Vette truly is. The cabin is also a quantum leap forward from the plasticky Corvette interiors of a generation or two ago. It might lack some of the hand-craftsmanship of the other vehicles here, but the ZR1 has a sticker price that is less than half that of the competition; a fact that more than makes up for any lack of mahogany paneling or titanium switch knobs. The ZR1's trunk will even hold a week's worth of luggage.

2011 Bentley Continental Supersports - 204mph

Bentley Continental Supersports
Bentley Continental Supersports

The Bentley Continental Supersports is four-wheeled proof that refinement and luxury can go hand-in-hand with crushing performance. Despite weighing more than 5,000 pounds, and having a cabin that looks like it belongs in a Gulfstream business jet, the Continental Supersports can reach 204 mph. Credit the 621-hp turbocharged W-12 engine, which shares some of its mechanical lineage to the monster motor found in the Bugatti Veyron (both Bentley and Bugatti are owned by Volkswagen). The Bentley Continental Supersports is, you guessed it, the most powerful Bentley ever produced. Driven sedately, the Continental wafts along in unsurpassed quiet and comfort. Push the gas pedal, and the acceleration knocks you back and deep into the car's hand-stitched leather seats. Permanent four-wheel-drive helps keep all this power under control, as does agile steering and a suspension that can be tuned to favor either comfort or sporty driving.

2011 Lexus LFA - 202 mph

Lexus LFA
Lexus LFA

Lexus doesn't exactly spring to mind when thinking about incredible performance and jaw-dropping looks. We all know the Japanese brand can build high quality luxury vehicles of all shapes and sizes. But can Lexus actually take the fight to exotic cars? The Lexus LFA is the answer; and the result is a 202-mph supercar that looks like it jumped directly out of a video game. There is nothing subtle about the LFA, and not many soft edges to be found anywhere on the hyper-aggressive 2-door body. To keep weight down, the car is made out of three different types of lightweight carbon fiber. Not that the 560-bhp 4.8-liter V-10 engine mounted up front needs any extra help hurling the LFA down the road. Priced at $375,000, you could buy 11 Lexus IS sedans for the price of one LFA - and still have some cash left. Yet with only 500 scheduled to be built, the rarity and performance of the LFA ensure it legendary status amongst the sports car elite.

And for those who really don't like to wait...

The status that comes with owning one of the world's fastest cars isn't limited to only brand-new models. Just because you're lucky enough to afford one of the world's fastest exotic cars doesn't necessarily mean you'll manage to put one in your garage. Most of the cars on this list were sold out as soon as they were announced, usually in hushed tones, to well-heeled buyers. However, recently discontinued supercars, like the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and Lamborghini LP670 SV, might no longer be brand new, but still look phenomenal and easily exceed the 200-mph mark. The SLR McLaren can hit 207 mph, while the Lamborghini touches 209 mph.

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren & Ferrari Enzo

Opting for a gently-used Ferrari Enzo, which is capable of 218 mph, versus the 599 GTO also doesn't strike us as much of a sacrifice. Produced from 2002 to 2004, the Enzo was Ferrari's flagship supercar. The same holds true for the Porsche Carrera GT, a carbon-fiber masterpiece produced from 2004 to 2006. This super-Porsche could hit 205 mph. Yet for many purists, nothing can top the McLaren F1. With seating for three (the driver sits in the middle of the car) the McLaren F1 is capable of 231 mph - with the rev limiter in place, of course. For many, the F1 remains the supercar to beat even if the Bugatti has since captured the title for world's fastest car.
