DJS : Check out Legendary Producer, Giorgio Moroder's first-ever DJ set

The 2013 Red Bull Music Academy is currently stationed in New York, with workshops, panels and of course parties taking over the sleepless city. On Monday night, at Output in Brooklyn , dancers were treated to a very special session of Francois K’s long-running Deep Space.

As well as a set from the host, there was Giorgio Moroder, playing what was billed as his first-ever DJ appearance. The legendary producer rolled out some of his finest moments including Donna Summer’s I Feel Love, Bad Girls, One The Radio and his recent entry on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, Giorgio By Moroder. It was recorded for RBMA Radio so you can listen below.
Even better, the New York gig wasn’t a one-off. “I am becoming a DJ…and I don’t know why, really,” Moroder cheerfully told Time Out New York recently, adding that he’s got an agent for DJing and a set booked in Japan. He’s also been working with Avicii, just like fellow Random Access Memories collaborator Nile Rodgers.
“I feel like DJs aren’t just the new stars; the really good ones are so powerful,” Moroder added to Time Out. “I was in Ibiza last summer, and it was incredible. It’s like a conductor, telling the musicians, ‘Go slow now. Go loud now.’ DJs are doing the same thing. I’m not there yet, but I hope it will happen.”

Morning Mix : Angelo Scalici - Funky House Sessions (Episode #001)

EDM - Morning Mix : Spinnin' Sessions Episode 001 - Incl. guestmix by Sander van Doorn

Spinnin' Records proudly presents its brand new weekly radio show: Spinnin' Sessions.
Besides providing you with the most upfront dance floor tracks of the moment, Spinnin Sessions will also welcome a weekly guest DJ for a special 30 minute mix.

In this very first episode of Spinnin' Sessions, we got our man Sander van Doorn to create a 30 minute mix with some of his favorite tracks for you.

EDM DJ Set : Chuckie - EDCNYC

Here is my EDCNYC set as it should be...The mix is longer than my actual planned set time. I only played 30 minutes because I was late for my gig...no excuses..just a free mix just to make it up to you guys! Love as always...Keep it DIRTY!
By the way, it only took me 30 minutes to mix this shit..did it on my way to the hotel!
BLOGS WILL PROVIDE A TRACKLIST...LOL!

EDM : Hear the "infamous set" that got DJ Shadow kicked off the decks

As we’ve seen on inthemix this year, DJs having their sets cut short is happening surprisingly often. However, it was the news of DJ Shadow’s recent run-in with Miami club Mansion that seems to be raising the most eyebrows. Shadow came to Miami on his ‘All Basses Covered’ DJ tour of the U.S., which ticked off shows in New York, Atlanta, New Orleans, Boston and Detroit. At Mansion, his bass excursions didn’t go down so smoothly, though, with Shadow given a tap on the shoulder to cut his set short. “I’ve waited a long time to play here,” he told the dancefloor on the mic, “but they said this shit is too future.”
Shadow promised to share ‘The Infamous South Beach Set’ – and here it is below, via Beatport’s mix series. As the description reads: “From hardcore rap to footwork and juke and beyond, Shadow has combed the web to curate seamless and dexterous blends of the most progressive sounds bubbling up from the underground.”

After his unceremonious departure from the booth, Shadow took to Twitter to explain the situation in a series of Tweets: “I don’t care if I get kicked out of every rich kid club on the planet. I will never sacrifice my integrity as a DJ…ever. I appreciate everyone’s support. Obviously I should have never been booked there in the first place. Square peg in a round hole. Ironically it was drum and bass that broke the camel’s back (!). Note to self…play more drum and bass! Or maybe it was all the trap & juke that preceded it.”
Last week, Mansion Nightclub have issued an apology to DJ Shadow, writing: “We offer our most sincere apologies to DJ Shadow and his fans for his set being cut short at Mansion this past weekend. This error should not have happened and will not happen again, especially as we pride ourselves on creating an environment that cultivates and respects innovators such as DJ Shadow. We have learned a lot from this error and made changes within our organisation to ensure that Mansion’s vision, and the vision of our guests, will never be compromised again.”
