CANCELLATION OF ELECTRIC ZOO MUSIC FESTIVAL ON RANDALL’S ISLAND
Due to serious health risks, the Electric Zoo music festival on Randall's Island on Sunday, September 1st has been cancelled. The City recommended cancellation and the event promoters have agreed.
During the first two days of the Electric Zoo music festival, two concert-goers have died and at least four others became critically ill and have been placed in intensive care at area hospitals. Definitive causes of death have not yet been determined, however, both appear to have involved the drug MDMA (ecstasy, or molly).  The Electric Zoo organizers have worked with City officials to reduce health risks at this event, but in view of these occurrences, the safest course is to cancel the remaining day of the event

Sampling the sounds and styles of the festival’s 5 diversely-curated stages, we found ourselves gravitating most to the Neon Garden tent. Tucked away deep in the corner, techno faithfuls sought shelter from the packed crowd, sweltering heat, and soundbleed that plagued the festival’s other stages.
Hop past the break to see EDC NY through our eyes.

EDM : EDC New York May 17 & 18, 2013 at Citi Field

Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) New York returns for 2013 on May 17 & 18 to a new venue, Citi Field.

Insomniac, the  mastermind production team behind many of the present day’s EDM events, has announced that Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) will return to New York for a second time on May 17 and 18, 2013 at Citi Field. Last year’s EDC NY was touted an incredible success, with many complaining about the location due to travel difficulties. Those problems have been (apparently) solved. It remains to be seen if the move will be for better or for worse, but if there’s one thing we can count on it’s that Insomniac will put on a spectacular production with a lineup that can compete with any other premier electronic festival in North America.
Tickets for the event go on sale February 8, 2013 at 12 p.m. EST. Pacha NYC will again be involved with the production and promotion of the festival, further bolstering both the lineup and surely putting on some can’t miss after parties. Two-day general admission tickets will initially be priced at $159 with VIP tickets selling at $299 (before service fees). Layaway pricing option will be available this year, as has worked with other festivals such as Electric Zoo. If you’re looking to only go one day (for some strange reason), you can risk trying to grabbing one of the very limited number of single-day tickets at a later date.

“Based on the tremendous success of the first EDC New York in 2012, there was no question that Insomniac would return to the loyal fans in New York who truly enjoy the multi-sensory experience that we create,” - Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella.

EDM News : Ultra Music Festival Phase 2: Skrillex, Azelia Banks, Sleigh Bells

Skrillex performs during day 3 of the Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival on June 9, 2012 in Manchester, Tennessee.

The Ultra Music Festival has unveiled the second phase of its massive lineup of DJs, performers and bands that will take over Miami for two weekends in March, with highlights including EDM giants Skrillex (via his side project Dog Blood) and Martin Solveig, rappers Azelia Banks and Snoop Dogg, and rock band Sleigh Bells.

Downtown Miami's Bayfront Park will play host to Ultra over the weekends of March 15-17 and March 22-24. It's the first year of the expanded festival, now in its 15th year.

New additions to the Ultra lineup include Paul Van Dyk, The Weeknd, Pretty Lights, Steve Aoki, Porter Robinson, Madeon and Dog Blood, the side project of Skrillex and Boys Noize.

They join previously announced acts deadmau5, Tiësto, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Avicii, Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Bassnectar, Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim and Kaskade. There will also be live sets by Boys Noize, Crystal Castles, Hot Chip, Matt & Kim and Yeasayer.

One of the centerpieces of this year's fest will be main stage sets by Swedish House Mafia, who have chosen Ultra as the final show of their "One Last Tour." They'll play on the first night of the 2-weekend event as well as the final night.

Last year's festival featured headliner performances from EDM heavyweights David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Kaskade, but the biggest moment came courtesy of Madonna, who made a surprise appearance with then-newcomer Avicii.
