T.I. back in federal custody after using luxury bus to report to halfway house

ATLANTA - Grammy-winning rapper T.I., who was freed after months in prison, was back in federal custody Thursday because of a flap over his use of a luxury bus to report to a halfway house, his lawyer said.
Steve Sadow told The Associated Press that the Federal Bureau of Prisons "has moved T.I. to a different facility" because of an issue involving the rapper's 375-mile trip Wednesday from the Arkansas lockup to Atlanta in a gleaming motor coach.
He did not elaborate on the exact nature of the problem federal authorities had, but said it was not drug-related. He said they are trying to resolve the problem.
T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, traveled with an entourage to check into the halfway house, stepping off the bus clad in a red and blue striped polo shirt and white shirts.
"There appears to be confusion surrounding the method of transportation," Sadow said.
Federal authorities had no further information late Thursday night where Harris was taken.
Traci Billingsley, a spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, told the AP that she couldn't comment on the rapper's status or his immediate whereabouts.
T.I. had initially served about seven months at the prison in 2009 after he was arrested for trying to buy unregistered guns and silencers from undercover federal agents. He was on probation after he was released and ordered not to commit another crime or to illegally possess any controlled substances.
He was arrested again in September 2010 in Los Angeles on drug charges after authorities said he was found with four ecstasy pills. He was sentenced in October to 11 months in prison for that violation, and had been set for release at the end of September but was let go early.
The prison agency's website said late Thursday night that Harris was "in transit" but didn't say where.
T.I. had left the Forrest City low-security prison and was driven in the bus with dark-colored windows, followed by four other cars.
"The storm is over & da sun back out. IT'S OUR TIME TO SHINE SHAWTY!!!!!" the rapper posted on Twitter shortly after his release. "Welcome to the beginning of our Happy Ending!!!!"
It appears a flock of cameras will follow T.I. regardless of where he goes next. VH1 said Wednesday that the network was filming T.I.'s journey home from jail and would debut the show in December. MTV aired a similar reality show on the rapper in 2009 called "T.I.'s Road to Redemption: 45 Days to Go," which chronicled his attempts to help others avoid his mistakes.
T.I. has also finalized a book deal. A representative from HarperCollins told AP that T.I. has written a book called "Power & Beauty" that's set to be released in October. The novel, which was co-written with David Ritz, is a fictional tale about two childhood friends torn apart by dangerous dealings on the streets of Atlanta.

Rapper Gucci Mane Arrested in Atlanta

DECATUR, Ga. - DeKalb County Police say Radric Davis, also known as Gucci Mane, was arrested by the DeKalb County Fugitive Squad Friday.
Davis was arrested while visiting his probation officer at the Georgia Department of Corrections Probation Office on Sylvan Road in Atlanta, say authorities.
Davis is charged with battery, a misdemeanor but as a result of the arrest will be also charged with violating his probation. Davis is on probation for previous unrelated charges.
Police say they arrested Davis on a warrant that stated he intentionally caused visible bodily harm to a female by pushing her out of a moving vehicle.
Davis is being held in the DeKalb County Jail.

Waka Flocka Surrenders to Police, Faces Slew of Charges

Waka Flocka Flame surrendered to Georgia police on Monday (Jan. 3) to face charges after a raid of his home last month. According to TMZ, he was booked by the Henry County Police Department on a slew of charges including possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of firearm by convicted felon, violation of probation for driving on a suspended license, and possession of the prescription drug hydrocodone.

Waka, born Juaquin Malphurs, is currently being held on $31,950 bail and apparently wanted to make the right decision in surrendering. The 24-year-old's mother and manager, Debra Antney, noted that he turned himself in "because he wanted to do the right thing and didn't want to run."

Ironically, the 'No Hands' rapper isn't the only one kicking off the new year with a trip to the slammer. His musical counterpart, Gucci Mane, is also back behind bars, in nearby Fulton County, after a judge ordered him into custody on charges that he violated the terms of his probation. If convicted on this latest charge, Gucci is facing up to 17 months behind bars, while a hearing for Waka is scheduled for Tuesday (Jan. 4).

Xzibit: "Pimp My Ride Made Me Broke"

Alvin Joiner, a.k.a. Xzibit, a.k.a. recursive Internet meme guy, owes nearly $1 million in delinquent federal taxes. His excuse for not paying them? The cancellation of Pimp My Ride. Seriously.

The rapper-turned-actor-turned-host-turned-tax-evader has declared bankruptcy twice since 2009 and had both bankruptcies dismissed according to Tax Watchdog. Halfway through last year he had assets of approximately $739,433 but owed more than $1.4 million.

His claim that cancellation of the show that made him famous is behind his financial problems doesn't appear to be entirely untrue, as his records indicate he made $497,175 for headlining Pimp My Ride in 2007 and the next year, after the show was canceled, only made a paltry $67,510.

The most interesting revelation from his tax records? He didn't own a car while hosting the show. He was leasing a 2006 Range Rover for $2,230 a month. Bad Xzibit, imagine what the guys in the shop could have done with a 1986 Range Rover you bought for $2,230.

Dr. Dre Promotes New Album On Mafia Wars

Dr. Dre has teamed up with Zynga to promote his new music single in the company’s popular Mafia Wars game and to give out some virtual goods to Facebook gamers.

Starting today, Mafia Wars will feature a number of Dr. Dre-inspired game scenarios, collectively called “Hustlin’ wit Dre.” Players around the world can watch the video for Dr. Dre’s first single, Detox, while playing Mafia Wars, and collect Dr. Dre-inspired, limited edition virtual goods such as headphones, weapons, and a vintage car. People who collect all of these virtual goods and complete the mastery will automatically be entered in a contest to win a signed copy of “Detox” or the exclusive Beats by Dre headphones (to the right).

The video for his new single, Detox, featuring Snoop Dog, will also stream for free while you play Mafia Wars. Players can purchase the single via an iTunes link within the game. Dr Dre’s album, however, is not due until some time next year, but one can only expect he’ll keep plugging his music Mafia Wars as his new album nears its release.

Although this is Zynga’s first in-game music partnership, it is not the first time Mafia Wars uses a celebrity to promote the game. Last August, people watched live as Snoop Dog blew up a real-life 4-ton armored truck in the Nevada desert to announce that Mafia Wars Las Vegas had reached 10 million users. Mafia Wars, a crime game where one creates clans and builds a criminal empire, is played by 19 million users each month.

G. Dep Arrested, Admits to Murdering Man 17 Years Ago

Former Bad Boy rapper G. Dep was arrested earlier this week (Dec. 15) after walking into Manhattan's 25th Precinct and confessing to murdering a Queens man outside of a East Harlem housing project 17 years ago.

On Oct. 19, 1993, Dep, born Trevell Coleman, admitted he was riding a bike around East 114th Street and Park Avenue when he came upon John Henkel, 32, outside the James Weldon Johnson Houses. Coleman, 19 years old at the time, proceeded to announce a robbery and when Henkel resisted, the 'Special Delivery' rhymer used his .40-caliber gun to shoot the victim three times in the chest, according to Detective William Dunn.

"I shot and killed someone 17 years ago," Coleman told a cop in the station house. After confessing, a police officer from the 25th Precinct contacted officials at the 23rd Precinct, where the crime took place. "It was just eating away at him," said a police source.

Coleman fled the scene at the time of the shooting, throwing the handgun into the East River. Henkel was then rushed to St. Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

As a result of his actions, Diddy's one-time signee was charged with murder and held without bail. "My client is presumed innocent, and the case is going to grand jury," said Coleman's lawyer, Michael Alperstein.

G. Dep is a career criminal, having been arrested more than 25 times since 2003 on various charges including burglary, grand larceny and drugs. Earlier this year, the 'Child of the Ghetto' creator announced his return to the rap game with his sophomore album, 'Ghetto Legend.'

Cam'ron and Vado Barred Entry Into Canada

Yesterday, Cam'ron and Vado were preparing to spread their Harlem cheer to a crowd of fans in Montreal when border patrol agents barred them from entering the country. Citing both rappers' criminal pasts, the duo was stuck at a Toronto border crossing and eventually told to turn around.

"Been sittin in customs for the last hour, hopefully they let me threw. Stay tuned," tweeted Cam during the incident. "They just told [Vado] he has a felony, he cant come in da country and my dj either. I'm waitin to here to see what they tell me." After he was denied entry Killer Cam explained why. "This some real bulls---!! " he wrote. "We just was here a couple months ago! Sayin i had machine gun in 03. F---- makin s--- up."

Cam then sent out a hilarious video to dwell on the situation a bit more. He was clearly in a bummed-out mood. "See the flag," he said. "They shut me down... Oh, man. There goes the flag. This the country that did it to us. Montreal, we sorry, Toronto customs stuck us here."

The ban from Canada was also particularly odd as both Cam and Vado performed in Toronto over the summer at a party called The Caribana Bash.
